Out of curiosity, which insurance carrier do you have?

i hit a guy on a bicycle (his fault) and after the cop reviewed my dash cam pinned the blame on him. my insurance still put me at 100% at fault despite the police report and dash cam footage. i bitched at the adjuster and said i wanted to escalate and dispute it so they settled at 50/50 which i accepted because that meant my premium didn't go up. the end result was the other guy got paid out my max because my insurance initially put me at 100% at fault and i was out my deductible to get my truck fixed. that $500 could have been spent on mods :censored:

Yep, I learned about insurance companies long ago when I was t-boned in my Civic by a pickup. Wasn't a terribly bad accident, but CHP happened to be in the taco shop at that corner and came racing out. Long story short, the guy bolted out of a gas station at night, without headlights, in a shopping center, had open beer cans in the back seat, and smelled like alcohol. CHP refused to arrest on DUI because it was on "private property" nor would they write a report for the same reason. I was so livid, CHP exchanged information for us. My insurance, 21st Century, later found out the guy lied about having current insurance, his home address, and about having a valid DL. :censored:

I was later served for damages and personal injury. 21st Century said to turn everything over to them and they would handle it and opted to pay out the settlement, put me at fault, and jacked up my rates. Needless to say, a phone call was made to my local rep which didn't go well. The next day, I took off from work and paid him an impromptu visit at his office. :luvya:

That conversation got pretty heated which brought in the branch manager who admitted they knew the other guy was committing fraud. But, because their ambulance chasing lawyer knew the threshold between a payout and a fight, they sued for just under the payout amount. I canceled my insurance that day, forced them to do a cancelation acknowledgement letter on the spot and issue a refund for the balance of my policy term.

I hate that company with every ounce of my being for that sole reason. They sold my butt down the river because it was financially cheaper for them.

This how I greet 21st Century whenever my wife drags me into their offices...

    :brianr:

    Now... More Taco spotting please.

This makes no sense to me. I feel like nobody would get DUIs then as so many happen in "private" shopping areas. That's so insane and I'm sorry you had to go through that.

    Police work

They could have done all of that if they wanted to. It's private property but it's publicly accessible and they can always take a report.

I never park there for that reason. I always park way over on the 1st hole side. Especially after I watched my buddy’s dad blade one right into the parking lot on 9
