I have a 2012 Tacoma SR5 that didn't come pre wired for fog lamps. I bought a pair from Extreme Terrain but the instructions are not very detailed. I've got everything installed but not sure where to connect into the fuse box and accessories power in the cab. I've added the installation instructions and pictures for reference.

I'm going to check this out and see if it's consistent across the gen 2 and 3. Appreciate the link.

Unfortunately the Gen 3 setup is different and I'm not confident in which wiring connector to tap into. Hopefully someone has done this on the Gen 2's before and can provide an example.

That looks easy enough. I'll run out today and pick up the add a fuse. Would I do the same for the 15 amp fuse in the engine compartment?

I've got the add a fuse installed in the dash fuse box. Still unsure what to do with the fuse in the engine compartment.

The harness has a fuse holder (unless you removed).

oh okay. So effectively it's should work with the fuse that's already on the harness. (I didn't remove) I'll install a wire nut on the bare wire and try them out to see if they're working.

The circled spot at the engine bay fuse/relay box are direct battery source. You could crimp a female connector and place the fuse holder inside the box. The terminals are always energized, so either remove the negative battery terminal before or remove the ground wire of the harness from the vehicle (don't allow it to touch you or the vehicle while you connect the positive terminal if the fog harness to the spades.)

Is this the type of connector you're referencing? Apologies for the ignorance, I know very little when it comes to electrical.

Okay. I've got the spade connector installed and everything seems to be setup. Although, fog lamps don't work when I turn on with the switch. Weirdly, the headlights will turn on when you click the switch. What did I miss

What fuse location did you use for the add-a-fuse?

Think that matches the diagram you posted in the thread.

The green wire has the connector that attaches to the switch. From the switch it goes to the add a fuse and wiring harness.

Did you check the fuse on the fog light harness?
