Do you find the Gen3 Tacoma interior a bit small/crowded?

It’s a midsize truck. There are compromises. I'm 5'-11" wife is 5'-4". My Son 8, sits behind me while driving in a booster seat. Daughter sits behind wife on passenger side with the passenger seat forward a little bit. We make it work. No one complains. Once our son gets older tho it could be challenging. The long box is great for cargo but is a little long for around town.

If I had $0.05 for very bad car decision I have made for kids and/or dogs, I’d never have to work again….

I had a Gen2 Tacoma that I traded in because it was “too small” for the kids on longer trips. So I’ve had two full size trucks since, and hated both. Worst mistake I made was getting rid of my taco. So, with both kids +/- 3 years from being society’s problem, and not mine, I got my ‘22. Do the booger-eaters say it’s too small? Yes! Do I care anymore? No! We’ll make it work for 3 years. The the wife, dog, and me will do whatever we want, when we want, and nobody will complain it’s too small. If my wife does (cuz the dog will be up front), she can stay home. Just kidding…she’s 5’1” tall and thinks “there’s ton of room” back there….LOL.

My 2 kids have gone from rear facing to front facing and now to booster seats in my Tacomas. Do I wish it was bigger? Yes, about 1-2 times a year. The rest of the year it’s more practical to drive and I’m willing to be cramped those couple times.

You are right. The back seat in the Tacoma is decorative. If you actually NEED a back seat for adults, look elsewhere. Toyota is so sure nobody will be back there that they don't even send any meaningful power to the rear speakers.

I actually think a power driver seat would make a big difference in terms of space by allowing me to get lower and nudge forward in a smooth motion.

This is why I got and Access cab. I felt the Double cab was just a courtesy hump.... I find not a heck of a lot of difference in usable cab space but a lot bigger bed. It is uglier tho... It's just me and my wife, 2 chihuahuas and 2 cats.

I didn't get the tacoma as a family mover but I am surprised at the lack of leg room in the rear compared to the nissan frontier it replaced. I assumed they would be similar but it seems like less rear leg room (just visually, haven't compared specs). Back seat passengers will likely receive a pre-emptive apology for there future discomfort from me. But those are rare enough occasions that it's not a deal breaker.

I've had toyota 4wd pickups since 78 till 2001 when a bought a tundra. The tundra had a larger interior and rode quite plush for a 4wd truck. In 2020 i bought my 1st tacoma. 1st thing you notice is a smaller interior, weird seating, and a very taunt ride. All, no big deal. The seating can be adjusted well enough to be acceptable with its 10 way power seat. The rest, you accept the truck for what it is...smaller.

Do power seats allow you to go lower?

Hard top camper...many more to add+
Small ..Medium..Large…. No right answer for everyone…. Sure we all want more space…. When I had my full size 4x4 Dodge Ram 2dr..8 foot bed with tall fiber glass camper…I would take my whole family camping..stuff to the max…and wishing it was larger…lol
Today with a smaller family..kids grown up…2019 TRD 4dr ,Tacoma long bed..with leer camper…sometimes I wish I had more space? Lol
Back seats ok for Adults…we live on a island…NOT many hours on the roads…it can take over 8 hours to go around the island with several stops..here…the key is stops so rear adults can stretch there legs…these are times when the winch comes in hand…stretching the legs…need at least 8,000 pound winch capacity…?
    Aloha

Why push the car seat forward with that “pillow” behind it? Losing 2-3” of legroom.

I have a power seat on my TRD Sport...not sure if this is a standard option on entry level Tacomas. (No offense to those who are SR5 owners)

Yes, the seat allows you to lower it or higher it to get you closer to the cabin roof.

This mid-size truck is meant to seat two comfortably. If reclining is desired for the back seat...go with an SUV.
