I’m new to TW but my first search was to upgrade tires and I noticed a lot of guys are running Wildpeaks in the US which to me says something about being good in all conditions especially off road so I’m guessing you’ll be happy. I just decided to stick with ko2’s I won’t off road much but in the snow they’re great.

In Southern Ontario off road means driving on the shoulder or driving on 2 inches of salt they put on the roads for no snow..

I like my Duratracs when they hold air but I've now had 3 sidewalls puncture on trails in Colorado/Utah. 1 on a C rated 265 and 2 on a D rated 285 while aired down to ~20 PSI. I have road hazard at Discount Tire and replaced them for $40-60 each time. Will go with a different tire when I wear these down...

im investing in a fresh new set of load range e duratracs next week to replace standard load wrangler oem tires on my trd or.
ive used them previously in the bush.
i prefer to install them in the fall but cant risk puntures/failure of lesser quality tires this summer.
    excellent in snow when new.

I've run BFG AT's and MT's and much prefer the Duratrac's. My favorite tires were the Mickey Thompson Baja Claws, but unfortunately they only make those in like 46" and 54" now.

I have a set of 265/70's on my GX. They were basically new when I bought it. First set I've ever owned and other than being a little noisy I don't have any real complaints. However when there done, they will get replaced with something else.

    they're great in the snow
    they are good offroad
they are good/decent on the road - they do get loud as they age
    they're good in the wet

i like them and would own again. have had several sets. currently i went with toyo AT3 just because i wanted a 255/80r17 and they dont make a duratrac in this size

Duratracs come in an E Load (10 ply). That's what I would get if I had that problem. Knock on wood, haven't had that issue with my C load Duratracs.

That's where I'm at when I go to replace my Duratracs next. The AT3 & Wildpeaks are a nice compromise tire, but they are just not very aggressive thread. To me, they look like the Goodyear Kevlar tire that came stock on my OR.

I’m a big fan of duratracs. I’ve had them on every Toyota I’ve owned! Great treadlife, hook up great in snow, mud, rain etc. weak sidewalls but they aren’t a crawling tire…still technically an AT lol

I'm on my second set of Duratracs. No complaints, they do everything I need to do and do it well. I haven't noticed abnormal wear. I think I got 60k miles out of the first set, which is fine for me given how much time I spend offroad.

I will probably try something different next go'round for no other reason than variety is the spice of life and there's a lot of good choices out there.

    bubba503,
what is your preference for stronger sidewall tires that offers the other benefits of duratrac?

BFG KM3, but then you're into a mud tire and they will wear substantially faster. Everything's a bit of a trade-off.

I ran a lot of KM3s (well, KM2's at the time) on my crawler jeeps and they're an awesome offroad tire if you're running low air pressure a lot of the time.

Kenda Rt. I beat the piss out of mine in the rocks and the sidewalls are still perfect. Id say they have 25% more grip on the wet roads than Duratracs, probably around the same total mileage out of them. Only thing is they aren't 3 peak rated, I think because they didn't make them in one common size or something silly like that. I've driven them up to the pass probably 30 times this winter, so they do good on highway snow. Deep snow they do phenomenal, plowed snow up to my hood a handful of times with no issues. Probably 25% quieter, even after wearing down. Duratracs got pretty noisy and slappy, even with proper alignment.
