New to me ‘21 TRD Sport, missing key plug?

Hi everyone, I just picked up my first Tacoma yesterday after eyeing them for years and I cant wait to get in to adding goodies and making this thing my own!

One thing I noticed at the dealership though was I seem to be missing the plug that goes over the shift lockout access (see photo) if anyone could point me in a direction of where I could find one, or give me a part number to order a replacement from the dealership I would appreciate it !

Anyway, it doesn’t concern me that it’s missing at all, just annoying that it is.

Either the battery died and someone at the dealership removed it to put the truck in neutral to move it or someone was looking at the truck and stole it.
Either way, the dealership should provide you with a new one free of charge.
Have you checked under the seats really good?

 

It is a trap door in case your AT shifter is jammed. You shove a screwdriver in the slot and this will release the shifter.

 

If the shifter is truly jammed that button won’t do anything. It’s simply to override the shift interlock in the event you need to roll the truck when the battery is dead / disconnected.
