nope. but what's funny, truck is perfectly fine now. started fine, didn't give me any problems getting to the store. while I was at the store getting ready to buy a few things like plugs, coils, etc. I borrowed their more beefy obd2 scanner just to check and it showed the error code...and then after like 10 seconds, it went away without me clearing it. and it hasn't come back at all. I'll have to keep watching it... :/ For now, I have a few plugs and a coil just in case I need to replace those.

Oh snap. Plugs / coils would be my first reaction too. How many miles are on yours now?

    125k-ish.

plugs were replaced at around 95k. so they're newer plugs.

but yeah. plug/coils are the easiest solution and probably most common. it's possible i got some bad fuel and clinder 2 just happened to get it.

Fingers crossed, maybe that's it. A couple years ago I had trouble with the engine cutting out during acceleration ... couldn't find anything wrong except that I had gassed up at Maverik.

dude. That's what I'm thinking! I gassed up at a Maverik and then the engine started acting up!

No way! They swear up and down they get their gas from the same refineries as others, etc, etc, but I've had and heard of enough troubles that I'm not going back there.

Yeah...I think i will be avoiding them as best as I can from here on out. I was at quarter tank with the Maverik gas and then i filled up. Then I almost immediately got the misfire and engine light and limp mode. I restarted thet ruck and it was running fine. I'm thinking the Maverik gas got filtered out now and now that Chevron gas is going through and it's all purry happy. I'm GUESSING that's it. I'll run a cleaner through the tank the next time around just to be sure everything gets ungunked.

They do get their gas at the same refinery as everyone else. I knew a guy that delivered to Chevron stations... the ones that claim their fuel has "Techron" in it. He said the drivers were given a tiny little bottle labeled, Techron, to add to their fuel delivery tank before they filled each time, so technically there really is Techron in the gas ( whatever that is ). Not many parts per million, but legal. And who knows, maybe it does add some kind of benefit. In any case he filled his truck at the same storage tanks as Maverik.

Maverik, Costco, Sams Club, non branded fuel sellers by fuel open market everyday. Basically, who is selling the cheapest. Hence their prices are low, your not paying extra for the "Brand Additives.
So YES their gas does come from the same refineries and plants. YES one day it might be Shell, next day Chevron/Texaco etc fuel. HOWEVER with out the additives.
Branded Fuels, such as Shell, Chevron, Etc. Inject the additive at the fueling rack when they are filling the tankers. Its not done at the station directly into the tank anymore. The only one that does inject at the station is Costco. Hence, Coscto is a top tier gas.

I will occasionally fill my gas cans with Maverik ethanol-free for my 4 wheeler and yard equipment. I'd never use their fuel in a car or truck I care about unless there was no other option. Too many bad experiences. Both my brother's excavation business and my workplace, a construction equipment service department, have hade multiple work trucks downed with gelled diesel from Maverik when they should have been switched over to winter fuel months prior. Super fucking annoying when you're supposed to be out rescuing all your customers with gelled fuel.

that's scary. very scary. I mean, I get the whole idea of, "go to a gas station that is so busy they're constantly filling up" but...even then.....i haven't had good experiences thus far.

This isnt a Maverik issue only, an overall issue lately past few years with DSL. Is that they are using more and more of a Bio Blend, 20-30%+ at times. Which when it comes time for changing over to a more Kerosene blend to keep the gel down. They just mix an anti gel with the bio blend to work out that bulk storage of it. Which causes a F ton of other issues.

I speak of this as I am a certified Fuel tech for AZ, UT, NM, NV area. Previously was in Florida. I deal with this crap every year.

As a side note. Please remove those Activation stickers off gift cards, new bank cards etc. Those peel and rub off into the card readers on the pumps. Which then cause them to not work and leads to more consumers being pissed. Oh, and Bank of America and Wells Fargo chip cards are notorious for not working when worn down too.

and...now there must be some blockage in the coolant, because now the engine is getting hot and the coolant is going through properly (the reservoir is definitely all the way full and overflowing). if it's not one thing it's another this past week.

I’ve had zero issue with maverick gas, but there’s also a tanker there everyday so maybe that helps

I use Maverik ethanol free in my taco all the time. I've never had any problems with it and I average 21-22 mpgs. Much better than other top tier branded premium ethanol free. I am not a fan of ethanol and Maverik 87 just runs better in my truck. But, if I ran diesel and got gelled up, I wouldn't use their fuel either.

not losing coolant. I think there's an air pocket or something. I can hear liquid moving behind my firewall when I hard brake or hard accelerate right around where the heater core should be.
It's saying the engine is warm but there's no hot air coming through the heater and the coolant reservoir isn't going down any further. I don't see any coolant below the radiator cap neither.

couple that with the fact that I saw the temperature climbing under some hard pulls (I was trying to replicate the stutter/hesitation/misfire) that I immediately went home and turned the engine off. Then I saw that the reservoir had overflowed.

I put more weight in freshness of gas than an unknown ratio of extra detergent additives. All fuel has detergent per federal requirements. Even ethanol is a good solvent that can clean injectors. Ethanol’s issue is that it absorbs water over time and has less BTU. I buy most of my gas from Maverik since it’s close, cheaper, and probably the freshest. Maverik has a tanker visiting almost daily.
