    Agreed.

Also, it depends on angle and lighting view of the clear lens.

    **Vehicle color also affects appearance.**

The reason I lean towards the REDS is because I have a Midnight Black Sport. My current tail lights are clear lens and my assessment above about angle/lighting is an honest opinion.

With that said, I've seen some REDS that are dark blood red instead of the standard red and based on the photos, the contrast did not pop.

It's tough to predict which ones will satisfy each Tacoma owner.

These tail lights are fantastic regardless of choice selection. Good Luck!

The turn signals are bright enough, compared to factory tails. I believe the folks who are saying they aren’t as bright as the total tails (I don’t have total tails to compare against), but the are plenty bright to get the job done.

Agreed, I initially thought they were dim but quickly realized almost every time they're good enough. Only when I have my sunnies on with the sun reflecting off the tails do I think anything about it haha.

Not blaming you, I’m just disappointed. I wanted to love them, but I’m meh. Also, I’ll still keep buying meso products, :)

The turn signals appear to be very directional, and are brightest when looked straight on, dim'ish from other angles.

They are brighter than OEM Halogens, but nowhere near as bright as Total Tail Lights stage 2 by a large margin. TTL Stage 2s can light up a small parking lot with just the signals.

Morimoto or Meso may release a V2 in the future, like how there is a V2 Morimoto headlights that fixed a lot of issues with the first version.

Honestly I have mine in and installed and the quality is very very high I had nothing broken or leaking and the condensation is normal so don't stress that. Best Tacoma tails on the market if you ask me even considering the price!!

    Maybe it's just my bad luck, but my replacement set arrived and while the tabs are all intact this time, this is how the turn signal plug looks on the driver side assembly (cut through);

I didn't mind the wait (that was outside of MESO's control), but I'm definitely questioning the QC from Morimoto so far...

Customer service from MESO has been great (as usual), and hopefully the third time will be a charm.

Does miromoto have these in stock? Or is meso the place to get them?

I have the OEM headlights with the LED DRLs and halogen lamps. No other LED lights. If I were to install these what are the chances of hyperflashing or some other lighting malfunction? Also, did you guys disconnect your negative battery cable for the install? Thanks :)

I don’t have your exact setup (I have the full-LED OEM headlights), but I haven’t had any hyperflashing issues at all.

I didn’t disconnect the battery, but disconnecting would probably be a best practice. I’ve never really felt the need to disconnect the battery for plug-n-play type connections.

Actually I just realized I lied. I also have the OEM LED bed lights. I always worry about stuff that says "plug and play" or easy 10-min installation. It goes great for everyone except me :annoyed:

I tracked down someone locally who purchased a clear set (thanks @Formidable!) and compared them to my Total Tails Stage 1.

I'm afraid it's too much of a functional downgrade in brightness for me, despite the superior aesthetics. Maybe if sequential LED's were added to the reverse reflector area to boost the visual signature of the turn signal, I'd be interested in a set, but that would probably push the cost over $1000. Or just commit to red and boost the brightness.

Nice meeting you today. I totally agree that the signals and the reverse lights are not as bright as the Meso Stage 1 and 2 upgrades as the video demonstrates…

However, here’s the catch… They are still a pretty significant upgrade over the OEM halogens. The Stage 1 and 2 turn signals and reverse lights are literally blinding from directly behind. I know because I owned the stage 2’s before. Lol… Not necessarily a bad thing… Just really hard for anything on the market to compete with from a performance perspective… period. As much as you are happy with stage 1’s and saving the cash, I am happy with my set of Meso LED tails.

Again, pleasure meeting with you today.

Side by side shot Meso stage 2 vs Meso full LED reverse and parking lights on during install.

    Different strokes for different folks!
Total Total is my brain child, and the best bang for the buck hands down.
@vecdran is right, if only there was a way to add Amber signals at the bottom reflector so it’s a more level playing field…:anonymous:
