plastic "tie down brackets" suck here is a solution

for all of us who have 2nd generation tacoma and have dirt bikes or motorcycles toyota really F*cked up with not having D-rings at the head of the bed. The plastic Cargo Bed Tie Down downs will not hold up when putting you bike in the back. Here is a link that will solve the problem when trying to put 2 bikes in the back of you truck.

My brother has them on his TRD and they work like a charm, I have D rings that i installed in my truck since i have a 4 cylinder and cant haul 2 bikes, thats what i get then i buy a truck with no balls.

I just bolted some big ass d-rings to the bed bolts. Far enough front for everything so far.. including my bike.. which isn't a little dirt bike.

ha... 50 bucks.. I'll go out in the garage and bend me a set in 10 minutes, with scrap from whatever.

I paid 20 bucks for 2 bike fork holders and they have moving parts.

 

what if you have a toolbox in your bed? then what?

 

this is what i did, just pulled bed bolt slide thru hole and bolted back down. Holds street bike just fine

Go to a junk yard and take the tie downs out of a blazer or simaler. There universal and fold down. No loss of bed space. The bed has 6 bolts 2 of which (at the rear) have D-rings the other four now have these. And only cost me $1 each.

Hey sheepymach, just be aware of the UV destroying those straps over time. 's why I keep mine rolled up in the stowage holes.
