Sheesh. Dui charges are not cheap. If the rate is that high then there would be no point for insurance. I agree, I want to know from someone that has reported a stolen vehicle, what happened with the insurance.

It was parked in the driveway not his living room so castle doctrine wouldn't apply.

If you want cement only, then don't worry if you get a Tacoma in different color, anytime down the road, you can get your truck wrapped in cement color.. Unless you get an used cement Tacoma if they have it available at the time you buy a truck.

Wrap company has several colors you pick one from.. or you can get camo wrap like TacomaBeast's truck or any design wrap you like that looks best to you. Up to you.

I wanted Silver at the time I bought my truck but they didn't have it on the lot.... there were only white and black available... so I took black instead. I know I can get silver truck via order but I didn't want to wait too long. Since I have a black tacoma, and I will order new one with a color of my choice in the future and I will keep my tacoma for off road/camping use.

People don't want to be tracked. You could hide one in anyone's car. Also they say you can use the app to find those that aren't your's.

If you study history ..every great nation ..lasted about 200 years..as sociality gets worst…America is over 200 years old …our way of life ..our justice system ,we are no longer a United nation, but a individual , my self first nation..
We allow injustice, to take over…look at our leaders today.. Many not truthful, many do not have high stands of honor, fairness, and they keep getting elected..locally and everywhere…

What can we do? First we start we ourselves…then with with children… teach them the right and wrongs…yes it may take generations…

Problem is the people are teaching their children to steal..hate..lie..and cheat…faster then we can..
Hence our sociality is what it is today…. And getting worst everyday…just read the news..

When you let people get away with crimes..? It will NEVER..NEVER.. end…. Aloha

America..goodness of our way of life is been destroy…because we are letting it happen…

Nobody in this state got their feelings hurt by your point of view. You clearly know zero about our people, traditions and laws.

Recommend you add me to your ignore list. That’s certainly where you are going.

    Well summed up OP.

I'm not up on the alarms that our trucks come with (or alarms in general nowadays) but if it was me I'd recommend looking into one with the voltage drop sensor in that piece of this.

Re the garage, I relate. I have an old house and the door clearance isn't enough to use for mine or for her Rav4 (which is significantly higher than my truck).

Re insurance..fight tooth and nail. Never take the first or even the second offer in this particular case with all the upgrades you have done and definitely find comps that have sold recently to the best of your ability, as well as what a similar truck to yours will cost now.

Kinda seemed there was but okay. I don't have an ignore list, didn't even know that was a thing.

I thought my initial post was pretty straight forward and that no disrespect was intended. If it was taken as disrespect, my apologies. I've spent quite a bit of time in Texas, a close buddy lived there for years, so I'm somewhat familiar.

I get it, the good people of Texas enjoy the right to defend themselves and their property. I fully support those rights, there and everywhere. And I'll conscede probably moreso than say, California or Oregon. That said, my initial post was simply to point out that people in those latter States also enjoy the right to defend themselves and protect their property. That aspect isn't a unique right or freedom to Texas. Are there varying laws and rights depending on the region? Of course. But the same basic principles and right to defend one's person and property (within reason) are the same....Californians can shoot intruders who enter their home. And I can do the same here in Oregon, though I'd really rather not and hope I never have to.

Edit to add: I do think some people, in all areas of the country, are quicker to use extreme violence to protect material objects. I find that incredibly disturbing and sad. Again, someone unwelcome in your home? Or in the cab of your truck with you in it? That's one thing. Someone trying boost your truck in the driveway or grab your catalytic converter is another.

Again, no disrespect was ever I tended and the "feels" comment was in jest.

Carry right gun laws …from what I understand…have less crime? Should every one carry one?

Sweden ..every man is issue a weapon…yet there crime rate is very, very low…

America our crime rate is high…not because of guns… Our failure to punish and jail the criminals…
Here in America… Very few people serve their full sentences… In and out…( I like there burgers too ) …

Laws are made by man. . Man can change the laws…Aloha

. Look at California…No bail money needed..get arrested..and home the same day…? ..only to allow them to continue there way of life…that is how they get a new Tacoma truck…steal yours…get caught…and freed…next day ..to do it again, again..
Cars dealers…maybe the biggest beneficiaries…lol. And insurance companies
Remember you politicians will never buy a Tacoma truck…and they make the laws!

I had my 2017 2wd TRD offroad totaled on 11/9 when I was rear ended at 65mph on the freeway at a dead stop... I finally got a new 2022 TRD offroad 4wd about 3 weeks ago. I was on a wait list at 2 dealers who never got an allocation for what I wanted (premium tech/lunar rock). I found a truck a state away online, put a deposit down, bought a 6am flight for the next day, flew up there, bought it and drove 9 hours back. $ wise I ended up spending about $5k out of pocket to get me back to the same monthly payment. I had a few after market items I no longer have, raptor tube step, bakflip tonneau, upgraded headlights, Katskinz.... So in the end I definitely came up, but it was a HASSLE. I didn't get exactly what I wanted.... so to your point, you are correct. The insurance was a nightmare, I paid for a rental out of pocket for 3 months because I couldn't find a truck... So you are exactly right, OP will get reimbursed, but it's going to be a huge hassle.

If that were the case then crime would be significantly more rampant in Canada. That's not the case though:

I’m pretty sure the prison system in Sweden is vastly different than the US. Also I believe they may have a healthcare plan that covers all of them. Not to mention it’s hard to compare two countries of completely different sizes and economic wealth. But, it is very important to look at other countries and adjust our current laws to better fit our own needs. Sweden also screwed up big time, when they sold oil and gas rights to Norway for next to nothing (couple of kroners).

We have some of the highest incarceration rates in the world compared to other developed nations. Is that saying Americans are just more violent? Maybe our system of punishment needs to be revamped and rehabilitation or reduction in poverty would help.

Sorry to hear about your truck being stolen, even more incredible, the network shipping vehicles to Africa...

I lived in Texas for a few years following an AWFUL deployment starting in 2009. One nice thing about Texas, the police were VERY professional (Fort Worth) and certainly understanding given what I was dealing with (slowly driving through red lights, for example, not sure where my mind was).

Another aspect of living there I appreciated, most folks had an EXTREMELY low tolerance for BS. You had no idea who was armed. Was it the 70 year old grandmother? The 30 year old house wife? The 21 year old college student? This operated as an incredible deterrent to some of the behavior we see in other localities, and certainly helped with my state of mind...

I now live in New Mexico, and one cannot utilize deadly force against someone engaged in property theft or similar. HOWEVER, if someone breaks into my home, he or she WILL be shot. PERIOD. Recently, there have been some home invasions here where the intruder(s) left in a body bag and the home owner was cleared on site of any malfeasance. And if I don't get to them, my daughter will, and she is a better shot than I am...

The tough aspect with this, even though your insurance might cover the cost of the vehicle, will you even be able to get a new one? I had a vagrant damage my truck at a stoplight last July, it was property damage only, and yes, I was armed at the time. All I wanted was my police report so I could file my insurance claim. My truck was nearly totaled in a hit and run a week after I got it back from the shop (no plates on the vehicle which hit me).

I was going to have to go OUT OF STATE just to get another Tacoma! Here in Albuquerque, one of the young salesmen informed me that dealerships are allocation based and I was not supposed to do this. I informed him that I would just move and drove off leaving him with a confused look on his face ..

This is an interesting subject. I'm not necessarily a "gun nut", but the open carry of firearms does have a psychological effect on a population and can certainly act as a "behavioral inhibitor". Folks who steal and engage in other crime are "opportunists", and when the perceived cost or risk associated with an action exceeds the pay off, they are less likely to engage in it...
