Yeah, not a night and day difference but not insignificant either. Especially when the sticker on my door jamb says recommended payload is 950 lbs :bananadead:

Hoping for more aluminum cab options in the next few years.

SmartCap is 220# for the long bed -- if memory serves.

How much do your truck squat with the smart cap.. they’re pretty heavy.
I just ordered one and I feel like I might need to order up some leaf springs to compensate

Stock springs handle it okay but once you start loading other gear in, that 200# becomes more noticeable. I went with Deaver stage 2 springs and it’s nice when it’s fully loaded but a little stiff when the bed is empty.

Ive got an AAL in the leaf pack right now and it sorta keeps up with the lift and tent that are on the truck ATM.. thinking i need to go with a new pack for the cap, tent, and all the other gear thats back there regularly. Are deavers the only way to go? how are Icon RXTs, alcans, OMEs, or expedition leafs from All-pro?

I had OME HD and it ended up sagging with all the weight ( Tent + cap + duel swing outs ). Went to Deavers stage 3 and way better in ride quality.

OME has clearance issues with the second spring in the pack. You end up having to cut them so they don’t tear up the shackles. My Deavers ride way better than my OMEs ever did in my old truck. Worth it in my opinion.

Hate to bring some negativity to the discussion, but has anyone been waiting for over a year for their smartcap delivery? Was wondering if I hold the record for longest wait time. Ordered an Evo Sport short bed + load bars from Mainline Overland back in March (of last year) and have heard essentially nothing from them other than how it "should be on the next shipment". Despite RSI's distributor apparently being "first come first serve" it seems like some dealers receive preferential treatment? Seen plenty of other caps be delivered in the meantime.

Its not that one dealer gets better treatment, it really comes down to dealers who are willing to hustle hard for their customers. Sometimes we pay extra freight on our end to make sure we have caps available for our customers. Not all dealers are willing to do that. The US plant is a couple months away from coming online and will focus on Tacoma caps and will cut down lead times drastically.

So I've had my Smartcap for about 5 months now. It seems to have survived a pretty nasty Washington winter, but recently noticed some leaking from an unusual location. The leak is coming from the aft edge of the positive pressure vent seam where it appears the vent itself is pulling away from the top panel (tried to capture this in the linked video). Has anyone else had this issue?

I know some caulk could probably fix the issue in the short term, but I'm hoping this is something that is covered under warranty. I was expecting the Smartcap to last the life of the truck, and so far its not looking good. Reaching out to @OffroadAlliance.com next...

Here's the affected area after I've dried it. As you can see the in the video, the vent itself is starting to separate from the top panel, causing the paint to crack and water to get in:

I have an EVOa ADVENTURE on order for my 2017 Gen 3 DCSB (thanks Mike). I currently have an upTOP rack and a softopper with an iKamper on the bedrack (see photo). Trying to figure out what I can get away with for lowest profile mounting of the iKamper.

Can anyone send me the distance from the top of the bed sides (that the Smartcap sits on) to the top of the Smartcap?

If you have the RSI load bars, can you send me the distance from the top of the Smartcap to the top surface of the load bars an/or total distance from the top of the bed sides to the top surface of the load bars?

And I am open to any suggestions for mounting the iKamper on top of the Smartcap.

    Thanks!

I had RXT AAL and with the shell and the back fully loaded it sagged. Ended up going with the RXT Stage 2 and no issues at all anymore.
