Yes. The dealers are getting that. I am the superintendent doing the Fremont Cadillac remodel and they are tacking on as much as 10k on the sticker price.

BY the way, since you are obviously in the SF Bay area, One Toyota in Oakland, right off the I-880 freeway, actually has a HUGE red banner hanging off of the side of their main building, saying something like "NEVER PAY MORE THAN MSRP", which is a clear slap in the face of those dealers who are marking up their vehicles. The bay area has MANY Toyota dealers, and it is really easy, albeit, time consuming, to go online and just search through various dealers inventories in the area. I did this and believe me, I learned of SO MANY dealers around that I had never heard of, but what I DID learn, was that the number one selling Tacoma dealer in Northern California, is Freeman Toyota in Santa Rosa. They are an hour north of San Francisco right on 101, and back when local dealers actually HAD inventory, most had around 30 or so vehicles in stock. Freeman Toyota always had over 100-120 new Tacomas in stock, which is why they were the top seller, because they had an insane selection. They also provided me with the best price quote, but I was dealing with a sales lady who just didn't have the knowledge of the Toyota computer system, and so, she actually said it would take them two months to get the truck I wanted in. I went to One Toyota in Oakland, and got an insanely great saleslady, who knew the Toyota computer system in and out. She got me a truck in less than two weeks, just like I wanted! And also, she honored the quote I got from Freeman Toyota too! So while you may not want to go all over the place looking at vehicles, you don't have to, with the advent of the internet, and when you do find a good price, then it is good to go and get an actual quote from them in writing. It may help you later!

50k mark-up to do the job in 2022. Otherwise most of the contractors here are booked until mid 2023. It’s a good time to be a contractor/builder in the Bay Area. This was for a 15k bathroom “update” no plumbing is moving, and the bathroom is only 5’ x 8’. It makes Tacoma price gouging seem tame.

It’d be $68,390 if freeloaders stopped going by for free white mocha coffee!

I just realized that mark up alone…is not all that much less than I paid for my 2015.

These markups are not surprising...I bring my Tacoma to Fremont for service. Talking to my Service Advisor and a mechanic there, inventory sells as quickly as it arrives. When I brought it in for the clutch TSB, one of the mechanics told the other, "let's grab a manual Tacoma off the lot and compare" the other mechanic just laughs at him and says "yeah right, there's nothing out there". Service Advisor told me that there were $5k - $10k mark ups on run-of-the mill Camry's and Rav 4's. TRD Pro is in a class of its own. Even the SF dealer where where I bought my Tacoma in 2019 had a $5k mark up on the TRD Pro back then. Nothing will come easy in these times, just shop around. There are a handful of dealers who will not charge a mark up, but you have to find them.

Not all dealers are gouging clients but we're in the minority. I'm a Service Advisor at Lexus of Pleasanton and we're not marking up our cars. We're also not selling them out of our market area so that we have vehicles available for our local clients. Search around and don't pay the crazy prices some of these places are asking for. I would never deal with Fremont Toyota personally as they kept me hanging for four months while trying to get my 2021 DCLB OR. I kept calling and emailing only to get the "it's still on order story". I ended up finding one online at Putnam Toyota and bought it two days later. They were great to deal with and Fremont never called me again...No updates. Nothing.

Yup that’s California dealerships for you.
You can just buy an Off Road and slap on brand new OEM TRD Pro parts and still be way under that ridiculous price.

Base model 2022 SR5 2wd is 40k here in cali at a Toyota dealership. I asked why so much and they said because of the wheels and tires...

They are taking base model tacomas and loading them up with dealer add ons. Same with cars as well they wanted to add 7k to a camry

Walnut Creek Toyota did MSRP for me. Took about 5 months to come in but I got my 22 LR TRD OR with a similar spec to what I wanted. The interesting thing about tundras is I was up north in Redding for work. And saw a tundra sitting in the lot with no ADM. they just wanted msrp and it was a higher spec sr5 BUT 2Wd. Sales guy was telling me they don’t mark up any 2wd’s but the 2 Tacoma SR 4x4 did have 5k markups. This was about 3 months ago though.

    Haha ... me too!

My TRD OR AC was $34k ... $4k under MSRP. I'm so glad I bought when I did, and as well a 4Runner the year before.

Dealership in Redwood City, right across the Bay also has a "no dealer markup" banner. Don't know anything about their inventory though.
I did see a Ford Maverick recently on a Ford lot: $26k MSRP, $9,999 markup. Maybe it's worth it to have the first Maverick on your block?...

People need to stop paying markups!
