Reminds me of the shortened minis* in the UK…

(* a chopped classic mini chopped to shorten the wheelbase taking th total length from 10’ to some 6’. A fairly easy mod in that case as all the mechanicals are in the front. The rear wheels simply keep the rear from dragging)

Is there any documented history of the Rav 4 floating around the Toyota archives?

Looking at the 1999 Rav 4 4dr convertible, I would think Toyota said to it's engineering team and finacial team. Build a 4Runner for the price it costs to produce a Corolla.

I know a guy that built a replica... unsure if he messed with the windshield. Anyway, enough of the AWD German talk... my Corrado has been sitting far too long.

Isuzu amigo was my first brand new vehicle I had ever purchased. It was an 89 . Moved from WA to cali and it was stolen two weeks after I got there. Truck was only a month old.

I liked the Isuzu pick ups of that generation. The trucks and the Amigo looked much like a 1st gen Tacoma, can't recall who copied who. Those boxy fenders and large PCD hubs, what's not to like? I can't recall the drive train on those things being terrible.

    Edit

Those trucks were built with 4 wheel disc brakes in 1989!

They did make a 2 door Land Cruiser which you can import.

I always liked the Axiom, seemed pretty stout but the model seems to have evaporated in the early 2000s.

Toyota only made the 2-door convertible RAV4 in 1998 & 1999. I had a 98 red convertable. Loved that RAV4 and put 185K miles on it. Yes, I did have to tow a light trailer to haul anything. Would have bought another one if Toyota still made them, but very happy with my Tacoma. Here some more info on the convertible RAV.

So, new Subaru-Toyota joint venture... first the BRZ/86... now the they have mated the 4Runner with a Baja to make this?

These were pretty awsome and available in a soft top. I really wanted one back then.

Ram 50s and the Mighty Max were cool too.
