This is just saddening. From the pictures it looks like a safe neighborhood too, but then that's where theft usually happens since they are after the nice things. Sure you there will be a happy ending to all this.

That's the worst part, one does not even know what a "safe" neighborhood is anymore...

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Well, I’d have a brand new Nissan Frontier KC 2wd sitting in my driveway by noon, tomorrow (and I don’t give a shit what color it is)

This ^. People do stupid things, sometimes they get in trouble. I can guarantee that everyone on this forum has broken a few laws and probably gotten away with it. Rotting in prison never solves anyones problems though.

Hey, I got my truck from one of the two Larry millers in abq, it was an allocation. But… Knowing that anyone could be armed might put me at a little unease. I think that people should at least receive the proper training of how to use a weapon, and when to use, before they are just unleashed into the streets vigilant to solve the worlds problems. Yes I own a gun, no I don’t carry it (Cali). Would I shoot someone stealing my truck, probably not, but maybe fire off a few rounds. Don’t really want to plan for that one.

Here's a news flash, even in California (and that's where I am from), ANYONE can be armed... Someone stealing your truck would not warrant a response with deadly force, but someone breaking into your home is another story entirely.

I don't believe anyone here is interested in becoming a "vigilante" or "solving the world's problems" (my former occupation, and one that only led to heartache and disillusionment), but following recent events, my faith in humanity and our institutions is seriously in question...

For those that are interested, they enter my driveway 30 minutes into the video. I used this copy to show the police that they were driving around my area with a stolen car beforehand.

They just need access to the OBD port. they have a scanner that re-programs the ECU to their own key. Once they reprogram this, your original key will no longer work.

    That's painful to watch...

Would have loved to see a boat anchor attached to the trailer hitch... They attempt to pull away, and the truck stops dead, a loud noise is made, and they need to run for the hills...

My point being that people may be less tempted to come onto someones property and steal if they know they may be shot.

The gated subdivision is probably safe but if you reveal the gate code to installer or repair man, so he can enter in the area, then it could be a problem. Which means, he could come back at night (not talking about same day) to steal something.. or he could pass the code on to someone else. The house door code is different story because the code can be changed after the installer/repair man leaves.

I noticed a guy used a bolt cutter... since i couldn't tell what he cut with cutter due the glare on the left side.. looked like he cut the door handle?

So the obvious question...who is going to come up with a lock for the OBD port? MESO, you listening? We need a faraday pouch and OBD port lock package deal, please.

It's painful to watch those d bags take your truck. Soo sorry man. I really hope you have a Good insurance and this ends well.
I heard of this happening in Canada and the push to start thing really gave me some concerns so that was one thing that made the sr5 more attractive since you need a physical key and the H chip. Though chip keys can also be programed too you would need a duplicate key blank to match to drive away with it. It still could be towed off.

Sad to say this kind of stuff is going to happen more as things in life become more difficult and expensive for people and governments become less tough on crime in efforts to create social justice.
I don't live in a neighborhood that looks as "safe" and pretty as to OP but we usually don't have vehicles taken, things from vehicles are taken if left unlocked. We even had a Cat taken from a Prius a few blocks from me. They were even captured on a security camera with audio. I seen the video of that too. The camera picked up the saw very well and even them clinking the jack to lift the car. How it didn't wake someone at 4am I don't know.

Still it sucks the we sometimes can't have the nice things we work for and that we pay more for insurance because of these envious thieves.
