Evidence of bad ECGS?

    I see no reason to stick with OEM when my OEM seal leaked with less than 17,000 miles on it. The needle bearing was still in great shape...

    My leak was discovered at less than 17,000 miles on the odometer. The RCV axles and ECGS bushing went in at 18,000 miles, so I replaced the leaking OEM seal then.

    We get it and there are millions of miles of empirical evidence that contradict your bad luck experience. Of course you replaced both seals right?

    The OEM and the national oil seal for the front diff have the same mold marks and look 100% identical. I'd bet my lunch that they are the same part.

    1.52 million 3rd gens sold, if half are 4x4 models, then on average each seal needs to last 3 miles to compile said empirical evidence? :laugh: Jokes aside, do you have actual Toyota replacement data on this seal? Yes there is general belief the OEM seal has been OK, but there's no need to put the OEM part on a pedestal when there are known cases of premature failures.
