Make sure the jumper switch on the pac harness is in the right place for the brand of head unit you’re using.

Well Wednesday, I opened up my fuel door and the pin inside snapped in half, so I had to replace the door. Ordered it through toyota.....$67 and it only came in black.
The rivets that they give you are waaaaay to big for a normal rivet gun so once I drilled out the rivets (which was the biggest PITA) I replaced them with 2 M5 rivnuts.
    Screenshot_20220416-203620_Gallery.jpg

Luckily I was able to pry the painted cover off of my old one and put it on my new hinge frame.
    Screenshot_20220416-203544_Gallery.jpg

The screw that attached the door snap piece was rusted out and seized so I had to drill it out just to get the snap piece on the new one and replace it with a M6 Stainless screw and put new stainless steel M5 cap screws and lock washers to keep everything metric and rust free. The great thing is that I can adjust it now so the Door won't hit and scrap everything I open up the thing.

Confirmed. I just tried changing it and still nothing. There is an LED on it that shows it has power or something and that light is not on so something might be wrong with it. Its plug and play from the factory harness to it so I'm thinking is there is no power there then something wrong in it. I check all my fuses again and replaced the stereo 1 fuse still nothing. I do not have the JBL system as far as I know and there is not an amp unless its hidden behind the dash or something. I even tried to move the plug to the amped plug and that didn't work. What is the difference of the Stereo 1 10 amp fuse and the 30 amp Stereo 2 under the hood?

I tried one of those, caused a warning light on the dash, ("trac off" of something like that). Put the OEM cap back on and after a week or so the warning light went off. Have you had this issue? If not where did you get your locking cap?

Decided to finally install my Total Chaos spindle gussets. Started mid morning, will reinstall tomorrow. I have a spare set of spindles, but I was not completely sure they were un-bent, After completely removing my set I was able to compare and they seem perfect. The angle of the upper ball joint side is the same as the ones I removed. Those will stay as spares, hopefully I never need them.

My welds are not the greatest, but should be strong enough for me.

FUN FACT: the spacers at the top of the ball joint make it so the castle nuts no longer line up at all. Turns out you can get low profile nuts from fastenal.

Edit#2 - Short nuts FTW! - not super thrilled it's just zinc plated and not Geomet or some other superior anti-corrosion technique.

I had a little maintenance day for my 110k anniversary. I greased my driveline, replaced the brake/ clutch fluid and engine coolant.

A few week’s ago I did both the diffs, TC, and manual transmission. So I shouldn’t have to touch the skid for another 100k except for the oil drain access door.

The ribbed 10ga is pretty strong. As you can see here, I lifted the whole front end underneath the frame that I welded.

I noticed a gash on my fuel tank so you can guess what’s coming next…

You need a test light or a volt meter. You need to figure out which wire doesn't have power that should have power or which wire doesn't have ground that should have a ground.

At the plug that plugs into the Alpine deck the yellow wire should have constant 12 volts on it. The red wire should have 12 volts whenever the ignition key is in the accessory and/or on position. The black wire is ground.

Once you've verified which wire doesn't have what it should have it will give you direction on which way you need to go to fix the issue.

As far as answering which fuse does what I do not know off hand but I can figure it out once I've got clothes on (lol).

I have over 30 years professional experience installing car audio but I admittedly got out of the business around 2004 so I've got extremely little experience with steering wheel controls. 619-787-798 seven Rod call or text is fine.

Typically the fuse under the hood is for constant power (yellow on the Alpine, blue with a yellow stripe on the Toyota side of the harness) and the fuse at the dash is for accessory/ignition (red on the Alpne, grey on the Toyota harness). The ground on the Alpine is black and it's brown on the Toyota harness.

I'm surprised the fuse under the hood is a 30 amp, seems a lot bigger than usual but it's definitely possible.

Just got off the phone with Crutchfield and they had me probing all the wires. I have power from the truck but no power threw the harness for the PAC unit. They are sending me a new pac module so hopefully that solves the problem. But now I don't have a radio for 3 days if I dont put my factory one back in :bananadead:
Thanks for the help I was in the process of doing that when I finally called them.

Yep.. I waited a while for mine… got them JUST before the delays started. The rear leafs take longer. I got mine through …Hotshot Off-road. Best service I have had in a long time from a vendor.

    This and that...
Pulled the trigger and got some Clazzio covers to replace my cheap Amazon specials. Been on the list since I bought the truck years ago. Went PVC because dogs. They look great in person but a pain it the ass for the front seat install. Unbolted the seats which helped a lot. Threw some 303 protectant on them and called it a day. Will tighten them up a bit more when the break in a bit.

Finally installed some redline hood struts, I open my hood almost daily to tinker so it's a worthwhile investment. Also replaced the upper ball joints due to alot of play, handling immensely improved.
