Been worried about you two.

 

I finally get it. our young operators do okay but fly by the seat of their pants. everyone ive trained ive told to keep notes. not everything you see happens often enough to remember it all and none ever wrote one thing down. The line beside me was up/down all morning Sat. came over and asked if ill help so and so. cant keep the binder running. whats wrong? he told me,said id be over in a few minutes. checked my note book on timing the infeed on it. it seldom evers gets out of whack. went over pulled guard on a timein unit. give me a pak of standard allens. moved a prox switch about 3/4 inch. bam ran the rest of the day. saw it @25yrs ago and wrote down which way to move to advance or delay timing. makes you look good but really its the notes you took from over the years. but us old guys get no respect from management. they will see when my age group retires and my notes go with me.

 

When I was on the line I would always get questions asked, like you, and my answer was a hint in one direction and to look it up. I also took notes. It was a clip board with like 1/2” of papers. One kid said someone my age would know it. I told him “You know a real old guy once told me. Being smart and knowing stuff is not remembering stuff in your head, it’s knowing where to find it.. my notes went with me too.

We got snow overnight. Grass and trees are covered. Rain/snow for rest of today.

We have two new people in my area. They've been on the job almost 8 months now. Neither one takes notes. When they are told to do something it's always, I don't know how. I know they have been shown multiple times. This is simple stuff thats done almost everyday. I could understand if it's the oddball stuff that we don't see very often.
