OEM Glass Breakage Sensor Installation

I have keyless fobs. I have a blinking security light on the dash. I have a panic button on my fob. Is there something I'm missing. Do I or do I not have the alarm. What else to check for

 

one last question, where is the key fob when your trying to trigger the alarm...

 

In my house . Way away from my vehicle. Pretty sure I have to use Tech stream to turn something on. It's also on the online instructions

 

I was under the impression that you needed the tech stream if you didnt have a factory alarm,...but your right this is puzzling...when I first set mine up it looked like the sensitivity was set to 7, but that ended up being the wrong end of the arrow, all I had to do was increase it and it worked...

 

So I saw online a guy check and see if it's got a factory alarm. He sat inside. Locked the door. Armed it. Opened the door . Alarm sounded. Used the remote to turn it off. Mine does not do this

 

I did the same, I just lowered the drivers window armed the alarm and put the key fob in the house, then reached in and opened the door,...the alarm sounded...you might have to get it enabled thru tech stream.

Thanks @Froth . Pretty sure that's the problem. When I bought my truck I asked if it had an alarm. Was told yes.
So it looks like I have one. Just not turned on.

 

I have to agree with where your headed, that makes total sense...

 

Anyone cut the microphone module open? I am thinking of cutting it in half and tieing into the two connectors for the microphone to extend it. Only place I can mount it is below the HVAC controls.

 

Here is my lower dash as of now.

 

Plan is to carefully mark and route out a rectanglular hole to the right of the camera switch (see photo) with razor blade and/or Dremel wheel. Then cut the second set of flanges on the GBS microphone "switch" so that I can flush mount it with hot glue or similar adhesive.

Hoping to be able to do this without actually having to remove the panel under the HVAC controls like you need to do to replace the switch panel out with the Meso panel.

I did take the microphone "switch" apart. The back of the switch is held on with four clips. I inserted a

$9 COHK Metal Spudger repair opening pry tool for Apple iPod, iPhone and iPad (5-Pieces)

spudger on each side of the case between the case and the clips and used small pliers to slide the internals of the switch out by grabbing the shoulder of the connector. The inside of the switch contained a small electret microphone about a 1/4 inch in diameter with two wires connected to the back connector. The microphone was secured to the case by a plastic clip. It would be fairly easy to remove the microphone and mount it anywhere on your dash by drilling a small hole and securing the microphone from behind the panel.

 

Thank you that's great info, and well described, much appreciated. I am going to take a look behind the panel below the HVAC and see how that looks first.

 

Did some digging and it looks like there is space to the right of the steering column at the location of the (in my vehicle unused) Automatic Climate Control system sensor. In my vehicle there is nothing behind this. I may be able to mount the microphone "switch" here. Will do more digging and let you all know.

 

Cut out the panel and trimmed the microphone unit. Bought the connectors (thanks caribe makaira) and made a jumper out of 18 gauge wire and wrapped with Tesa wiring harness tape.
