Got called a few times. Texas trials are fast (two to five days).

The first one, his honor, asked us to all step outside the courtroom. While later, a lawyer sticks his head out, then the lawyer and plaintiff. The judge brought us back in and thanked us for our time. His lawyer took one look at the jury, brought his client out, and told them, "you have six pissed-off hardworking people here to judge you today, they don't want to be here, and they will find you guilty." Kid pleaded.

    Another was similar.

Everyone wanted to get out of jury duty the third time, but I found them amusing and was happy to stay. The judge reviewed our questionnaire we had filed out and called me up to thank me for showing up and being willing to serve, but looked under "medical issues" and told me it was good—the last time I've been summoned.

I wanted to serve Federal Grand Jury, but lawyers do not like Engineers. We are too much "just the facts," and they want to indite on shaky ground so they can go digging. Engineers want facts, details, and timelines. It is like a wasted meeting if they can not produce that, and "why are you wasting my time?"

Couple details related to my Grand Jury duty...
    1) I was still on active duty. Got the notice and told my boss (flight commander) asking her if she wanted me to ask for a deferment based on duty requirements. She said, "no, you're so staunchly conservative the defense lawyers will never let you get close to being on a jury."
Came back and told her I'd been picked for Grand Jury...I laughed when she said, "hmm, I didn't think about that...you're a prosecutor's dream jury member."

I really enjoyed GJ duty. Interesting to actually learn the process, and I didn't have to commute 2 days a week ... courthouse is 5 mins from our house in Palmer. ;)

    2) I did send my neighbor to trial for felony DUI. No regrets there either, guy was a jerk.

Happy Easter 60s gang! Carried my youngest Grand Daughter in my arms up to the alter today to commune in Easter service. Gotta admit, had a tug at the heart strings as Baby Zay was perfect while I received my blessing and I dipped my bread. I think Pastor Caroline noticed my emotion as she smiled at me. Life is good!
