More like 120mph impact, considering both parties were traveling at 60mph. But Holly molly!

It will transfer more energy to the occupants, that is not fiction.

Um, nope! Two vehicles, if same mass, hitting each other at 60 mph is still just 60 mph, not 120 mph. Velocities are not additive. However, if one car's mass is 2X the other car, then you can use that ratio as a multiplier.

Well if I croak in a head on collision, let me just say its been a pleasure chatting in these forums, and thanks for all the funny one liners and vast knowledge I've come across in here.

How did they get into a head on collision on the freeway? Is the I-15 not a divided highway in Utah? Been a good 15 years since I have driven thru there (damn need to go back!)

    Nope, thankfully he didn’t roll!
Couldn’t tell you. I’ve driven the 15 also the entire way but can’t remember if there are spots where it narrows.

The good news is, in a crash like this, it would not matter if he had a stock bumper or an ARB bumper because velocities were too high.
Stock bumpers help you in lower speed crashes and that is where you would get more jarring if you have a steel bumper.
Higher speed safety is the crumple zones that get progressively harder the closer you come to the passenger compartment.

think as long as you weld a plate on your cmc the strength should be similar. Note to self, get cmc plate welded.
