Him and his late 60’s dad are alright. Sore but alright. For someone that says they grew up riding quads in the dunes, his driving didn’t seem to show much dune experience. Helmets, harnesses, and a race car saved them from more physical harm. Little bit of tube for the chassis and a block snd the car will be fine

Can you change the idle up RPM for the power steering pressure switch with HP tuner? Then use a manual switch to engage when you’re in the rocks?

 

What about a smaller pulley? The pumps already reach a bypass at certain rpm? Overdriving it so the pump is making its power at a lower engine rpm could work?

 

Will do. As of now will only be mid and trans skid.

 

Still wouldn’t turn at like 2k rpm. I don’t think it’s the pump not providing enough pressure, but the rack not outputting enough power

 

Correct it has nothing to do with the pump, you need a hydraulic ram to physically push the steering around.

Call me at the shop and I can get a new clevis and bolt out to you this am

 

The best bet for a Tacoma is to build a huge slide rack driven by a box and ram like jesses Chevy. The issue with a swing set is the AC compressor is in the way

 

You build a slide rack worthy and ready for hydro assist and I'm a buyer.

Just be prepared to spend $4k on all the parts you need from Howe in addition to everything else along with a lot of fab work

Just got off the phone with Harry. And man do I love the customer service over here for one.

But yeah sounds like a fun and not cheap project haha. Maybe next summer for me. For now gonna get a new clevis and keep the knowledge of its gonna be hard to turn in the rocks. Good thing the jeeps and 4800 car broke this weekend too so there won’t be big trips for a little bit

 

@81Trekker do you grease the uni balls at all from time to time? If so what do you use?
