Sorry if this has been answered before, it’s just a long thread.

is there any issues with mounting a 35x10.5 tire on a 17x9 wheel?

You would be pushing it. I believe 10.5 inch tire does best on 7-8” wheels. I guess the issue is losing a bead when aired way down.

For those that were in on the width of the MAXX vs the Geolander, today I remembered that my son has the MAXXs on his truck (2014) on stock 2021 wheels, I just put a tape measure under each of them.

If you already have the wheels I think I would just go for it and it’s more than likely gonna be fine.

Eh not really, I ran my 10.5s on 8.5 wide wheels for a year with no problems. Would air down to 12-15 wheeling, and ~10 in the snow. Don't think that extra half inch would make any difference.

Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, and the OP of course.

Recently joined the club with 255/80/17 wildpeaks! I could not be happier. Gas mileage is same as I had with 265/70/17 C load KO2s. These wildpeaks look freaking amazing, I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of them when they came out but they really grew on me. So far, wildpeaks feel better on wet pavement, but off-road I noticed no difference compared to KO2s, both are amazing. To me, 255s do not look skinny with a bit of negative offset, they look like 265s just taller. Truck now has more of a “utilitarian” look.

I wanted to get 275s but at almost 60 pounds, it’s just too much and they measure 31” mounted, these measure 32.25 mounted at 35 psi.

I took it off-road and cycled the suspension and left tire slightly “touches” the front bumper, just at the very corner. It’s so minor but soon I’ll take a heat gun and massage the plastic a bit. Otherwise no rubbing even on stock mudflaps, I’m very happy! They felt very smooth aired down.

To anyone who is thinking to switch, go for it. 255/80/17 is gonna be my tire size from now on.

I thought anything taller than 255/75/17 will rub? I hate to be the rubbing question guy, but this is my first time asking since I always planned on 255/75/17 for my stock 2022 TRD sport with my 2019 4runner TRD pro wheels

Every tire is different, every truck is different. There are a multitude of different lifts, wheel specifications, alignment numbers etc that makes it impossible for someone to tell you what’s going to rub on your truck.

Some people run 285’s on stock everything without trouble. Others have to cut and trim to fit 255’s. Buy what you want and make it work!

Nope, lots of guys running 255/80/17, 255/85/16 with no rubbing. Mind you, the majority removed the mudflaps. I got lucky and got to keep mine. Every truck seem to be just a bit different.
