It’s so weird but anytime I see a picture of a Tacoma in BC I instantly know it’s BC.

I've considered a buddy heater in colder months but feels like it would completely overwhelm the back. How does it work out?

I don't camp much below 25 degrees and have roughed it and used hand warmers and the kind of warmers you can tape onto your body. I stick the hand warmers in the pockets of a pair of sweat pants I wear to bed and tape one warmer to my chest. Seriously I know it sounds lame but it works OK. Also caveat, this is southern CA camping, so while it gets cold at night, it warms up quickly when the sun comes up into the 50s/60s. So I only need to survive the night time!

Near boiling hot water in a 1 litre Nalgene bottle placed in your sleeping bag or bed will warm it up and keep it much warmer for a good 4-5 hours. I usually place mine near my feet, because let's face it, you never sleep the whole night through with socks on.

I know exactly what you are saying. (I think it's partly because any photo looks like it's about to rain, is raining, or it just has rained.)

Been a bloody wet winter and spring so far for sure! Even in Victoria. Usually I’m playing golf in a polo shirt in February. Not this year.

Truck tents are super convenient and with the tailgate down, you get the full 6 feet. It still beats a tent on the ground!!!!!!

Worked perfect for me. Camping in SoCal too. Crack open the front flap and back flap for safety. Placed mine at the corner by the tailgate

I'm looking at getting a T4 for when I go camping with the family. Wife and two daughters. Nearly useless in getting the current tent setup so I end up doing most of it as well as taking it down. I find tent setup and tear down the two things I dislike about camping. Thus the ARE Topper and Long Bed Tacoma so when I go solo it is quick and easy.

If I am camping by myself at an event, then I sleep in the Long Bed with a Leer Cap. With my wife, we take along the "divorce proof" T4 with a ground cloth. If we were to get to a campground where it's raining and otherwise a pain in the ass to set up camp, we don't care to set-up the tent that night, we both fit into the back of the 6' bed, snugly and always have a high density foam cushion with a memory foam topper back there to sleep on. Okay for one night, but I would want to make it a habit! I'm 5'9", and she is 5'4". Oh, I forgot to mention that we have a Sherpa Crow's Nest" Roof Rack on top of the shell where we lash down the tent when driving, along with an awning, and a solid Pelican style case (Harbor Freight)that holds recovery gear, or anything else we care to take with us.

The "shade" portion flips down like a clamshell to close up the tailgate?
