It was totally legal; They have places to turn around from back in the days before COVID when you actually needed cash or an EZ Pass to get on the turnpike, so you get off if you didn't have either of those things.

In town at a local tune and dyno shop. I needed to get a boost tester for the Duramax that is kicking my ass.

That's what I like about you Charlie...you know cars. The Tacoma is a street fighter and is FAF. The GT-R isn't a slouch either.

So, my mechanic and I are pretty sure we know why the cruise control in my truck has only been working intermittently; The truck has been misfiring again, though not nearly as bad as it was before the four ignition coils and the #1 injector were replaced. The CEL is not on, but the truck has a bit of a rough idle. I'm going to a huge car show in New York this summer, so I want these issues dealt with before that trip. My mechanic believes that the cruise control was automatically disabled because the engine isn't healthy. My truck runs okay and is safe to drive, and the gas mileage has even gotten somewhat better since the parts listed above were replaced, but it just needs a tiny bit of work to make it 100%.

What car show? Is it the main one you like to see every year? Can’t remember which one though.

No, that's the Carlisle Truck Nationals; Missing that one this year because my parents and I are going to Northern California for a family reunion. I have no seen some of my relatives in about four years! I am also incredibly excited because not only are we flying first class, but the mask mandate (which happened to be the biggest source of my stress about flying) was dropped today!

The car show in New York is the Syracuse Nationals.

    I'm a slut too dammit!!

Not sure re Toyota's system as the couple I've driven (both Rav4s we have/had) with CC didn't have a CEL or rough idle when I used them.

Thinking out loud, but does your CC work while using the wipers?

Well, I had the wipers on today, but I'm gonna have to test this theory tomorrow!

Some companies did and/or do have CC disabled while using wipers. I can't recall off my skull if our Ravs did or not. The idea being that it's a safety feature. I want to say Toyota at least used to do this but I could be very wrong.

Well, the fact that cruise control working is about as intermittent as the engine misfiring leads me to believe that the two are related...

When I was in 8th grade, I hung around with this kid named Ben; A lot of the time he though I was annoying, but we got along for the most part and he came over to my house a few times. His mom didn't have nearly as much money my parents did, and while they had a nice little townhouse, his mom drove a Mitsubishi Mirage and they couldn't afford cable. One time in early 2003, Ben purposely missed his bus so he could have a ride home in my Grandma's then-new 2002 Lexus RX300; My parents lived in a 4-bedroom house (5 if you count the windowless room in the finished basement), we had cable, and I had an impressive collection of PS2 games. I have no doubt that Ben was nice most of the time because he wanted to come over to my house and play Grand Theft Auto, but he wasn't an asshole like so many of the other kids I dealt with in middle school. We ended up at the same high school, but we basically parted ways after 8th grade. Seeing a worn out Mitsubishi Mirage on the backlot of a dealership two days ago is what made me think of Ben...

Ben's mom had basically this exact same car (same color and all), but hers was a 2001 (this one is a 2002), and hers was also in excellent condition because it was only a couple years old at the time...

I also took these pictures on Sunday; This is the dealer where my dad bought my truck back in September 2009, and also where my parents got their 1990 Camry serviced when we lived here back in the 1990s!
