Remember the boss had to farm a lot of work out since lathe man was out for 3 months, I’ve been working on these parts another company turned and saved the biggest ones for last.

I did this one yesterday and it’s not my job to QC parts that come in, when I got done I noticed a line in the middle where they bored it from each end and they aren’t the same size bore.

I got the calipers out, one end is spot on, 2.381” or 60.5mm which is what the print calls out.

The other end, .021” over which is .010” over tolerance.

They didn’t just bore one too big but all 5 parts :annoyed:

One of them is way over :angrygirl:

Good catch on that OS bore.
Work was planning a short outage in the beginning of June but sounds like we may be forced to shut it down earlier. Could be tomorrow, no one knows.

That really sucks! Now all of them will have to be redone at their expense?

Boss is taking the one back that is way over, our lathe guy is going to try and blend the offset in on the other 4. They should work if we can get rid of the line. If the customer wasn't screaming for them we would have them remake all 5.

Interesting that they would use a 1/2" EM to face off the flat side.

I did that, lol. They only did the lathe work. I used a 1/2" EM cause it was already in the tool holder. Used a 1" face mill to rough it :D

It's all good, although you can see the tool marks you can't feel them. Chrome should hide it :fingerscrossed:

    Re: Poll

Short bed for visual aesthetics, long bed for utility. Unfortunately Toyota doesn't make a manual DCLB...if they did I'd own one.

The Tacoma is a long bed, love it. Duramax is a short bed crew cab, would love it to be a long bed too but would be a bear to park, etc. I mainly use it for pulling anyway.
