@zoo truck & @DJinTN Getting the truck tuned is BY FAR the best bang for your buck. Especially if you have an AT. Gear hunting gone, more low torque and better fuel economy. I've had 3 3rd gens in the last 1½ years 2 were AT, current is MT. Tuned all 3, NO REGRETS!

Will a tune void any warranties ? Anyone using a tuner in the Northern Indiana Southern Michigan area ? I see there is someone in Gran Rapids anyone use them ?

Only when it’s discovered and the issue is related to the tune

. Yeah I was trying to recreate to troubleshoot. I thought I was feeling it through the pedal but had to find a smooth road to know for sure. It's hard to tell when all your roads are trash.

If you read this forum long, you might start to think that the solution to all problems is a ECU tune.

Glad to have found this thread. I have felt this “lugging” from time to time in my ‘21 AT at lower RPM. So is it the transmission or an engine firing thing? Almost feels like a misfire.

The tune could cause a warranty repair to be denied if the failure can be traced to the tune itself. The fact is that Toyota knows about vF Tuner and he has met with the Toyota engineers. Some dealers even recommend the tune to fix the well known issues.

Beyond all of that, the latest Toyota TSBs even feel like Toyota snooped at vF's tuning in some areas. Sort of the reason that all the 2019 AT folks like it so much. Hahaha!

have you been tuned prior? If not, I’d love to tune you up if you’re in TN still, if you’re displeased we can get you back to stock with a full refund after a week or two of trying it out

Your missing the point. Theres no need for any of this bs if the truck runs right to begin with. If not, one should see the dealer why.

In my experience all you will get from the dealer is a run around. They'll give you the "That's normal, they all do that" answer and you'll just waste your time. After the Tacoma has a tune on it, it runs like it should from the factory. IMO

"I don't have that problem" could pretty much be the TW battle cry.

That is the weird part with the Taco. There is some odd variability between them. I have felt it when driving other 3rd Gens. They are, unfortunately, not all created equal. Mine seems to run well, but the mods that I have done, including the vF Tune, has only made it better.

Same thing i've been saying that these trucks do not run equal coming from toyota. I've been in a buddies year older trd, and it never ran as good as my 2020 sr5. It pissed him off to the point he traded for a frontier. Imo, a tune isn't needed unless your trying to make this truck into something it will never be.
