The real question is why didnt the alarm go off. I noticed the lights going on before they opened the door like they simulated the remote command and disarmed the alarm

By removing the driver's door handle they access the unlock feature of the door lock (key).

Yup, at least this will deter some. Might make the difference. The motion/voltage alarm is a wise idea too.

I have a slider, purchased a lockbar from @mattgecko here. I'm sure it could still be gotten around by breaking that pane but at least it can't be pried and slid from the outside.

Would a voltage drop trigger be possible considering the random nature of the fuel pump priming when the truck is off? Ive heard it running when parked in my garage.

if you cut one of the OBD connector wires and spliced it to a hidden switch your truck would still run for you and you wouldn't get any error messages but no scan tool would be able to communicate with the car. between that, the hidden OBD 2 connector and faraday box for fob. that would only leave them with towing it away..

Good question, I've heard mine do the same thing outside occasionally. Not sure, I haven't had an alarm with that feature in about 20 years..or any alarm for that matter.

As noted earlier, you can buy / own guns in Canada. Handguns, shotguns, AR's, whatever.
And apparently there is no relationship between gun ownership and the prevention of auto theft.

The U.S. sports 120 firearms for every 100 persons. ( come at me bro )
Canada sports 35 firearms for every 100 persons.

The U.S. experiences 45% more auto thefts than Canada, yet we have nearly 4 times the gun ownership.

So, in conclusion one could say that the more guns you own the more likely you are to have your car stolen.
    Odd statistic.

F’n right. Edit: I want a new red 2wd KC done pretty much exactly like my ‘84 with white wagon wheels and white cap. Turn the torsion bars down. Staggered tire sizes (meats on the back). You know… kick Toyota’s ass. All day

    Odd statistic? You mean useless.

Might be a little more useful to find to cities with comparable population, poverty, and crime, but there's a difference in gun laws and ownership

As the statistician always says, correlation does not equal causality.

For example, it could be that gun ownership is higher in the US because vehicle theft is more prevalent here.

Or it could be that the two pieces of data are totally unrelated to each other but are both related to something else.

Stats get abused on the daily.

The lines get blurry pretty quick. Just took inventory and I have 5 firearms in the house with just me and the wife here.
Nothing to do with protecting my ride either.

Another random theory could be that the US has much higher population density than Canada leading to higher gun ownership and higher auto theft rate. So many theories to toss out there with no underlying research whatsoever. Gotta love the internet.

Watching the video, they shut off the alarm by accessing the door lock switch. This is how you can deactivate the alarm using your key. So how many people use the key to unlock thier truck, I know I don’t. One simple layer would be to unplug the key lock switch. This way they break in and set off the alarm because they can not deactivate it. A simple layer, but enough to get them running.

it has more to do with the penalty (or lack of one) for being caught. Its a crime thats not punished seriously so they keep doing it. Weak judges, Lazy prosecutors or prosecutors who cut people slack based on their background, ethnicity etc.
