    Make it 4. My 2013 Forester needed a new short block and ruined my driveway with all the leaks. It was my 10th and last Subaru. The CVT they use currently has been problematic. The CVT in my new Venza is much better...chain, not a belt....and always in the sweet spot of the power band. Worked with a guy who had a Crosstrek. I wouldnt if I were you.

    I hear you can pick up a real nice FJ40 in South America these days

    I've been thinking about the original post for over a year, with NO decision, well other than the decision to keep on keeping my 2017 Tacoma. The "itch" coming from signing paperwork for permanent telework from home......so 22,000 miles a year, is now going to be about 5,000 annually. Be nice to have a truck with a warranty again for all those nitpicky things, and mileage will stay lower longer now.

    And yes, I always have the itch for something new, just so happens there's nothing I like better at the moment.

    My goal is to go into a 2024 Tacoma with the least amount of depreciation and right now my current truck's value is SO inflated, I thought it might be a good time to cash in, instead of the "chip shortage" resolving and in 2 years my truck is when what it should really be worth. Best car deals right now are new ones, depending on the dealer obviously.

    Come on, where's the crystal balls? What's my Tacoma going to be worth in December 2023???

    Sell it, buy a beater for a year or two when people run out of free money to spend sticker on overpriced vehicles.

    Do you have another vehicle allowing you to delay buying? If yes, sell the truck, pocket/invest the money and wait for the new normal to arrive. I think it will be 2023, maybe even 2024, but there will be sanity in the car market again. I personally don’t think prices will go all the way back to pre-CV levels due to the lower production of vehicles recently.

    I went through the same dilemma recently. Of course in my situation I kept the Tacoma and sold the extra sedan. Carvana, the sale was easy and painless btw.

    If you use the truck like a truck, then keep it. No way you can get a replacement in this market. If you want newer features, then do what is said above and work out a price for e replacement truck with the dealer then go in with the trade in or cash from the Tacoma sales.

    In my area, Rav4 are nearly impossible to find, but Lexus aren't. They have one of the lowest inflated price of any of the car brands. Go look at the Rav 4 equivalent, Lexus nx300h. More luxury and similar price to an inflated $ Rav 4

    This is what I decided to do this past december. My new one should be here tomorrow. I sold my 2020 privately.Making the new buyer of my 2020 wait until my new one comes in has been the most difficult part. I have a deposit on mine, but I'm concerned the buyer could bail out at any time.

    No such thing as "Free Money". It's just coming from an increased Government debt, which will mean higher payments to serbice the interest and principle on that debt. The money to pay that debt will raised by increases taxes.
    The 'Free Money" has led to much higher inflation.
    That Free money will be taken away from you before you know it, and to many people, it already has.
    The problem is is that for the vast majority of people, it will cost much more than they ever received in a check.
    Nothing In Life Is Ever Free.!!!

    And what about leasing? Might be the best time to consider a lease, since at least the lease contract guarantees what the values will be at the end of the term. Never had the chance to even consider one before, since I was putting on 20k+ miles each year, but now only about 5k.

    2005 - 2009 were the best years for the Legacy... Decent looking, turbocharged engine option, and a MT. It was my favorite Subaru I owned (and I had a few);

    I used this current insanity to get my Taco in december. I figured 2022 will be last year ever to get a manual transmission. Made a killing of my Rav4 and got the Taco at MSRP. I finally bit the bullet because I am betting the next Taco will be a :puke: 4 cyl turbo with no manual. If I already owned a Taco I would never sell it! I am predicting lameness with the next gen. The major options will be all electronic gizmos and doo dads. Plus it will be a first year production which is another big hell to the na na with me. Wellll I might consider it if it could transform into a giant robot:smokertransformer:
