Do you find the Gen3 Tacoma interior a bit small/crowded?

    Wait...what?

    Where'd you pull that data?

And there's another one of those phrases on this board. I won't do the grammar lesson as it may come back and bite me! lol

Well…from visual observation, generally speaking guys who drive mini vans, do have kids…so with process of elimination, they “must” be getting laid. Betcha they may have to hold their wife’s purse every once and a while though!

And guys driving massive jacked up bro-dozers must have something to prove, what that is who knows. Definitely attention whores though.

I have nothing to prove, why I drive a “chick truck” Tacoma. lol! Would do a mini-van if they came with a decent 4WD system. Unfortunate Toyota doesn’t have the HiAce here.

Apparently! Dunno what thread stays on topic…think some of yous guys were talking military service in here.

Yeah wish I upgraded to power seats, my wife used my truck yesterday and can’t seem to get it back to where I like it.

We have a 2011 Highlander Hybrid that has been great for trips, but the early hybrid AWD system is not so great for snow and the clearance is a little lacking. We are doing a lot of home reno and we get snow a lot lately. Wife said buy a truck, so we did. Looked at the 4Runner, but while it would be taller than the HiHy it does not have more interior space. Tacoma splits the middle for us and we love it. Easier to drive than the Tundra and 4Runner for my (4'11" wife) and has enough room for us when we need it.

There, put it back on topic...for a bit....

My mom’s husband just bought a new Highlander, think I like that better than the 4Runner. If you didn’t do any dirt roads or wheeling be the way to go. 4Runner is in a desperate need for a redesign, wish they would go back to more utility than fluff. Had an ‘85, it didn’t even have a rear seat. Could toss bags of concrete and building materials in there without much care.

Come to think about it, any vehicle that is family hauler, you should be able to hose it out…:p think some of those minivans have vacuums in them. Hell, would like that for my Tacoma since I drag so much dirt into it.

That was the only nice thing about the (dare I say it) Honda Element. Ugly as sin, but rubber hoseable interior with a drain in the center. Not a comfortable ride though.

The Highlander is comfortable enough and you get a bunch of range on the hybrid, but you can't pull yourself out of a wet sack with it. Essentially an up-armored camry. Happy with the Tacoma purchase, but need to get it out more. This work thing keeps getting in the way.

In all fairness to this question and OP: i took a tacoma for an extended test drive, but you dont usually load in 2 rear facing car seats, a diaper bag, kids toys, etc when you test drive. So i thought the back seat had plenty of room until i started to fill it up with car seats and shit then i quickly found out it gets tight. We've made it work with 2 kids and when they eventually go front facing its much easier, but you just gotta get thru that initial bulky car seat phase.

We used to hose out our work trucks and vans, man that was nice. The Honda Element is good in theory but badly executed. New Bronco is kinda hose-out-able, didn’t feel like paying a small fortune for one, that is if I could find one, tow capacity is only 3500 lbs too. Not quite enough for me. That is another small gripe about the Tacoma, should have the option of rubber flooring and vinyl seats since I am pretty rough on interiors. Can be fixed with seat covers and weather tech floor mats.

Like the Highlander, but your right…tried to talk my wife into one, she wants a 4Runner instead, said who is going to come get your ass when you get your truck stuck?? Can’t argue there!

My Ford Explorer Sport Trac actually accommodated full size people in the rear seats, and that is with the driver seat pushed back....but the Tacoma is very cramped in the rear. Part of the problem is the excessive room between the engine radiator and front end/bumper assembly....which could have been used in the cab instead of that area. Bottom line....too much hood, not enough double-cab.

Maybe, need to wait and see how well that new engine fairs.

True, I also have a ‘99 Tacoma that is currently sitting out of commission with a bad head, put $6000 into it last year too. Rebuilt the whole rear end, new rear driveshaft, new clutch, oil leak in the transfer case, fuel pump, power steering pump and rack, rebuilt the throttle body, plus a few other things.

Where's that meme that shows a girl removing her "chonies" or as my wife calls them, "knickers" after stating, "You have a Tacoma? I don't need these."

LOL! That doesn’t work here in Idaho, even the women think the Tacoma is a chick truck. If it can’t pull a horse trailer…it is worthless. Of course if a woman is with you because of the vehicle you drive, you have bigger problems. :)

Owned it 20 years now and has 434K. Which is still impressive, took some work to get it there. People thinking you only have to gas and change the oil in them is pretty much a myth. The 3.4 needs a timing belt/water pump every 90K. Not including the original, it is on its 3rd clutch, 2nd steering rack, 3rd rear end/driveshaft/carrier bearing (which is odd since I baby it). 1 set of CVs/Axles, rebuilt the suspension 3 times, starter rebuilt 3 times, valve cover gaskets, 1 injector, oil cooler seal, radiator, AC compressor, airbox and intake hose, TBS, brake booster, clutch slave cylinder, 3 catalytic converters. Sure I am forgetting a couple things.

Luckily the frame didn’t rust out since it is originally an AZ truck. Engine and trans are original, but everything around it has been rebuilt, some multiple times. Trying to decide what to do with it, fix the head or totally fresh engine, or just get rid of it since I am tired of fixing it. Wife wants to keep it, I am over it.

Was trying to get to at least 500K, but my wife got tired of me throwing money at it. Talked me into a new one. She wanted to keep it, so I gave it to her, her problem now. Of course means I’ll still have to spin wrenches on it, so still my problem… ha!

Not necessarily, the 22R I had in my 4Runner seized at 125K. The used 60K replacement engine had the main bearings go out at 150K. Oh yeah bought that truck used from the dealer with 60Kish miles on it, clutch went out on me on the way home. Sold it at 225K. There were a number of other things the 5-6 years I owned it, has been so long can’t remember.

Had a ‘92 Regular Cab too, that needed clutch at 130K, timing chain guides around that time too. Ball joints at 70K, rear axle bearings and seals at 150K. Sold that truck soon after to buy the ‘99.

All my trucks were/are 4WD, and do see quite of bit of dirt mainly FS roads, the 2WDs that never go off pavement and do mostly highway miles tend to last longer.

My past Toyotas were all bought used, this 3rd Gen is the first vehicle I ever bought new…maybe I’ll have to do less repairs since I’ll know exactly how it will treated. Pretty much babied and obsessive about maintenance.
