Is it just me but don't the 5-lug and 6-lug shackles look identical?

I have been looking for awhile for a shackle flip for my 5-lug 2nd gen. Like most things 5-lug it either does not exist or is from some unproven source. I then began to expand my search for different shackles not specifically made for my tacoma. Of course nothing. When I searched here at TW i ran across ATO's shackle flip kit and noticed that it was strikingly similar to what I had been looking at on my truck. Here is what the shackle hanger looks like on 2nd gen 5-lugs

here are the pics i could find of ATO's 6-lug shackle flip kit.

left side is before the flip kit is installed, so it's the stock hanger.

so tacoma world could this be one of the only suspension items on both the 5-lug and 6-lug that when modified have the same desired affect? all the rivets that need to be removed are in the same place.

if it is then i will be open to ordering a set from ATO and giving it a try on mine...

Kevin from ATO said "Yup they look the same to me." when I asked him to take a look at the pics. Once he has completed the redesign I plan on buying his shackle flip kit.

Looks similar, but Im sure there is a slight difference.

I'd be able to tell more if I could look at it in person.

there is a chance there are subtle differences and i plan on taking a closer look when i can get a chance to peek at a 6lug.

are there other angles that would help?

Well honestly I don't know how much the angle would matter. Just saying. Cause if you took them both off and set them both on a table they are both going to be flat. So in other words, to change to angle between shackles would be to make one longer or shorter than the other.

So if you make one shorter you are going to achieve a different angle, and in theory with a shorter shackle you will lower a truck. Same with making one a little bit longer, you will achieve lift on a truck. My buddies old Tacoma was lifted like this. He got a longer shackle and replaced it with the old one. The one he got gave him 2" of lift.

    Hope thats understandable.

it is. i started this thread because ATO's shackle flip adds 1/2 of lift and i am interested in buying them but didn't want to if it wouldn't work for me.

it makes sense that they would be the same since we can use the 6 lug shocks. but idk maybe thats just cause shocks in general are already a lot alike.

also maybe the only difference in height is because we are sua where 6 luggers are spring over? idk just my .02

that was what i was thinking, but i know similarities can be misleading.

thanks john. i'll post as many measurement as i can effectively communicate. do you happen to have your stock hangers still sitting around? if so then i can take simpler measurements for comparison.
