    Mollie ,

Does that include a charge for towing the truck? Just occurred to me that might be driving the price up... :notsure:

Unless, like @MQQSE said, they are lumping the tow charge into your bill; they saw you coming...

Anyone here ever gotten some sort of sponsorship for their rig direct through a company? Whether thats interior or performance type parts?
I see a lot of sites that offer sponsorship applications and you gotta have like 10k followers and post pictures of their gear like 4 times a week...yada yada...
Just curious if this has ever really panned out for anyone here.

Yea that's OEM, no way in heck I'd pay for that. A Delphi off the Rock is a little over $200 with shipping. However your average shop doesn't buy from them. They use Autozone, Carquest, NAPA, etc. The same Delphi unit from Autozone is $305. Napa and Advance have one (different brand) for about $200. All have to be ordered, none in stock in this area. So, you figure a tow, hour diagnosis, part, and another hour to replace, yea that adds up to $600 real quick...

He said it's napa and the part is 400. Coming from Illinois. I paid towing already. That was 60.

    Side note for everyone else:
Been going to this shop for 25 years. Never had any issues. There have been a few times I was quoted higher and ended up paying less. They've done some stuff for free, so I'm not trying to be naive here, but I have a hard time believing they're trying to stick it to me this time. Not impossible, but they have a good reputation in this area.

Wowzers, they're marking that part up a good bit! This is retail (they get a discount) of that sensor...

Well, 27 yo (design anyway) parts are probably hard to come by. And your trust of the shop is huge consideration. I reckon it is what it is.

What do a bunch of internet heroes know anyway? ;)

    I wouldn't worry on it Mollie. :)

Yep, I believe you're spot on ... the greedy bastard in this equation is the Illinois NAPA crook; likely taking HUGE advantage of a supply shortage on that particular part. Which means Mollie's trusted shop is not the bad guy.
