Haha yes I agree totally. What’s got you cringing the hardest ? The washing machine? The giant security camera arm?

 

The extra holes (windows) that were added was pretty difficult to see...pretty much most of the other stuff is recoverable...

and yeah the windows they cut into that beautiful Kimbo are a little bit wild. That’s the reason I won’t even consider purchasing that one.

I have concerns that the bins and jerry cans hanging off the back might compromise the integrity of the structure. And, I can't imagine dealing with the noise from the generator, but I'm kind of sensitive that way.

PS, we have a dog so trying our best to find a way to keep the kimbo around 70 inside during summer....Otherwise, i'd be fine with just the fan.

 

Might be decent for a day trip but the challenge will be keeping ice around to put in it...also, you could make your own for a fraction of the cost if you're handy.

 

gets it’s coldness from the water not the ice so should be good for like 3-5 days. Lol if I could I would! Found a competitor of there’s that does the same thing but with a Yeti cooler….$1200!

 

nope, still doesn’t stick out as far as the jacks, even with the boards loaded!

 

im running a similar sets up with 1up (a CO brand actually). Mine is pretty heavy but can hold my MTB and also my 65LB electric bike. Swing is called Rack attack and the rack is the super heavy duty. They make additional add ons to the racks such as cargo storage, more bike slots, etc.

Rack attack swing = 43Lbs (can hold up to 275LBs)
Bike rack = 54Lbs (can hold up to 225 Lbs total)

 

Found mine in a Tacoma group for 100$ but this is the same one. You might be able to find it a little cheaper from a different site

I've been pretty happy with my Kimbo. Picked it up in June of 2020 and have done lots of weekends, a number of week long trips, and a month through Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho last September. Gas mileage takes a pretty big hit but other than that it's been perfect. Added an awning, some rotopax, and some custom work on the interior. Bought the base model so no inside kitchen - will be DIY kitchen when I get around to it.

Anyone put one on a 4 cylinder yet? I’m Considering it, I already have regeared and suspension is set up from my previous slide in camper.

 

These Kimbo's typically are not heavier with the base model so I would guess the ride would be similar. I would not ass-u-me...

I would just compare the weights, but the Kimbo will created more resistance in the wind.

How's the re-grear compare to stock? It make a solid difference?

 

Manual or Auto?

 

The wind resistance is the biggest thing I’m worrying about, though the previous pop up with a few surfboards up top was fine, weight difference is negligible. Regearing was a complete game changer, even unloaded.

Manual helps I'm sure. You can expect a little more of a hit in MPG and power in a head wind, but with the re-gear, you may be close to what we experience. If the weight of previous slide-in wasn't an issue then the biggest hurdle is most likely passed in terms of engine performance.
