I'm curious if anyone carries a long gun (rifle) in their Taco. If so, how do you mount it, and secure it? I have a 2020 SR5 AC and am looking for ideas.

Generally just chuck in the bed or the back seat in a soft case. Has worked for 20 some odd years now since I've had a drivers license and been hunting.

I wonder how far I would get in California with a gun mounted on a rear window gun rack before getting shot by the police or some road rage nut!

These days, not in plain sight, anywhere.

it will either be stolen or youll scare some anti gun person and they’ll need a safe room to recover from
    The trauma.

You guys are still allowed to own firearms out there?

for me, Either in the back seat in a bag or in the bed with the topper locked. That’s only when going to the range. Otherwise Tours are under the rear seats or in a pocket.

Yes, I have a neighborhood group of gun owners that I shoot with. Mine go usually in my shell when heading out to the desert to shoot at a buddies private range. Rarely in the cab. Ammo, clips and guns are always separated.

It's funny how different states have such different regulations.
I've been trying this method recently, and I'm pretty happy so far. It's accessible, but not very secure.
