Hey WI friends! Selling my 2nd Gen camp setup (minus the tent). I'm in Madison, here is what I have:

    - Softopper I purchased new in October of 2020: $700obo (I paid $960 for it, comes with two extra mounts + a rear mesh screen)
    - Bed rack that was built custom to go over the Softopper: $250
    - Very basic little platform for storage: $50

Let me know if you're interested via PM and I can send some individual pics. I'd sell it all for $800 for a TW member, otherwise decently firm on prices if sold individually.

*edit: Posting here before I post to the public TW in a few days - if it's not allowed let me know but I thought it was fine

Nice! Thank you for the reminder. :)

I wonder if this could be a contributing factor to the slowness.

Some of us are still riding out CB. But, it seems like GMRS is the way to go for the future.

This is good to know! Thanks for the information!

I get that and like solo stuff too. But, it's good to have a community of people and the ability to communicate with them, especially if your cell doesn't have reception.

Under 2 watts doesn’t require a license. That’s frs (power was limited to 500 milliwatts prior to 2017)

frs and gmrs share all the same channels. The difference is the broadcast power. Higher power needs a license.

you do also get security channels (sub channels) with frs/gmrs so you typically don’t have to worry about overlap and sharing channels like you do with cb. You can also utilize repeaters but I don’t know of anyone that does. Usually once you go that route, you might as well go Ham radio

Finally I was able to get through for them to take the payment. Only took until 10pm

I see the need/use... missing the community. Hoping to get out with this crew at some point and change that. How does a group surmount different radio systems or can they cross over (pretty sure they cannot?)

Sometimes one or more of the people have both CB and GMRS and will forward messages to people on the other system. But, it's probably pretty annoying for them.

I suspect that most or all of us will be on GMRS in the near future.

I'd like to see a push for conversion this year. Now that the license is $35 and a hand held can be had for under $50 no reason not to. I'd say at least 50% of the regulars that go on outings are already switched over, or at least have the hardware.

Grab your favorite adult beverage and be prepared to wonder where your tax dollars go as you navigate the wonderful digital world of the FCC.

    It's really not that bad.

    I'm on board.

I'd already suggest that nobody spend any money on CB. I'm keeping mine for now, but not buying any more equipment.

I'm hoping to order the radio you recommended soon. I might try to get my license over the weekend.

Lol! I'll make sure to stir up a drink before I get started. And, I'll keep the bottle nearby. :)

That's a little wild to think about actually. I've been a member since 2018 and probably visit TW a couple of times per week since. I lurk and do a ton of reading and endless scroll through threads like, "Post your wheels and tires" and "tell us what you did to your Tacoma today" ha!

I guess I never thought that all I do is read and never say hey. Oops

Yeah, the rules are aimed at people who just joined to sell things. Unfortunately, they kind of suck for somebody who just doesn't post a lot.
