i would think the glass break sensor would set off the alarm if they tried to get to the switch (if equipped)

This theory doesn’t do well when you consider that the consequences for auto theft are pretty similar between the US and Canada.

Comparison of # of Vehicles stolen, gun ownership and population density. I'll bet the # of vehicles stolen is higher the closer you get to a city and the lower the percentage of gun ownership.

My bet would be that population density has a huge role (more parking on the street or in lots, fewer garage kept vehicles, more opportunity) and no relationship to gun ownership.

Where would you unplug it? At the lock wouldn’t work because they only need to jump the wires anyway

My high school stats told us on the first day of school, "Statistics don't lie, statisticians do."

Plus the lion's share of gun crimes in this country are committed by prior felons/with stolen guns/by people who shouldn't lawfully have them.

The glass break might not detect the door handle being remove to access the door lock switch. And it definitely wouldn't detect anything if the switch is accessed and the alarm is turned off.

You could unplug it at the switch. Or unpin it at the Main Body Module. This is just something that throws them off their game... the game they play has the same rules.

Remove handle, trigger unlock switch and disable alarm, reprogram ECU, drive away with someone else's beloved Tacoma.

By breaking thier rules, you take them off thier game, giving you a better chance of keeping your beloved Tacoma. The more rules you can break, the better the chance of keeping it.

I assume this applies also to the manual gearbox tacos, is this correct?

I like the idea of being able to use the key lock, but setting off the alarm if you do so. My question, how did they turn on the truck to reprogram the OBD port? Like, will any fob activate the push to start if you hold it close enough? Otherwise, it says, "key not detected in vehicle". Edit: I'm sure there is a secret process that doesn't need to be public.

Ya, crime rates have more to do with high population centers and poverty rates than that of gun ownership, and the US has way more urban areas than Canada. Also interesting to note is that alot of high crime areas in the US have very restrictive gun control laws, places like Chicago, New York and the modern hell scape that California has become.

It's harder for a law abiding person to get a gun in most of these locations when compared to a criminal... You can extrapolate from there.

Besides, if one wants to wield a weapon for power, why wouldn't you do it where your victims won't be on equal footing?

Ahhh....so sorry to hear this; hope they catch those 2 a*holes that stole your truck. When I bought my new Taco this past Feb, it was agreed upon on being able to fit in our garage by the wifey, even though I had zero plans on parking it outside. Again, so sorry that happened to you, such a nice truck too.

any updates on the truck? I bought two faraday pouches and now it seems like that was a waste if this happened to you.

My guess it's in the MTL's east end somewhere in an italian stripmall or at the port awaiting it's extended African vacation.

Hope the cops find it safe and unmolested tho.
