That might complicate out of state purchase.

If you buy a $30,000 vehicle and they give you $25,000 for your trade. You only pay sales tax on the difference, $5000 in this example. Not sure how out of state transactions are handled. Or maybe you can talk to a local dealer about them acquiring the vehicle from the dealer out of state.

You just take the papers to the dmv / treasurer and pay the taxes there. You still get the trade in credit buying out of state.

Dealers can also do trades, swap allocations, go get it. That’s what happened with my tundra. Mine was lost so they found one at another dealer and went and got it. Usually they’ll trade inventory if one has something another wants.

    So. Many. Stickers.
It's that easy. Those two dealers are in Illinois, my dad bought his Titan from Autocenters, super simple and easy. 90% of the paperwork done at the dealership and they're honest. Which is rare. Mailed the shit out ASAP too. Also rare.

    Bingo

True but dealer trades are usually limited to a radius (dealers don't like to do the legwork) but also a lot aren't wanting to let trucks/SUVs go. Sometimes it's a better deal to travel.

Esp in this case, since if you go through my guys, I'll get my $100 :D

I drove to Missouri and traded my Wisconsin titled Subaru in for my Tacoma. Don't be scared, dealerships do this stuff all day every day. The title and tax are the smoothest part. Dealing with stupid salespersons is the hardest part.

I am a finance manager at a dealership, it's super easy to buy out of state, I do paperwork for people buying from IL all the time (because we are one of the few dealerships that aren't charging over MSRP). You will receive all the required documents the show trade value and you just prove that to the DMV when you go to register the car.

They are limited by how much effort and money they want to spend. They’ll ship them too. Mine was like 4 hours away.

Most dealers are lazy though and would rather you just buy what’s on the lot

Yeah, there's been quite a few that I emailed dealers about just for them to say they're gone.

Oy vey...well we tried, looks like you are stuck with a Subaru. Maybe someday you can "upgrade" to a Datsun or if really lucky another Toyota.

We should get this back to talking about TACOMAS like it says at the top of the thread because they are totally the coolest truck on earth and I'm totally not biased no way no sir.
