Today's job was supposed to be replacing a couple "punky" cedar clapboards on the bottom. Hahaha.

That's gonna cost extra!

That's what I'm going to talk about. Looking from inside, those rotten studs only go up to the top plate of the basement wall framing and it looks clean from the inside. I may just sister up a couple, and put in temps while I replace the 2 on the end. Bottom plates are PT and are fine (just damp). First studs in from the corner are fine.

Just talked to the homeowner and he's in total agreement that we need to bring in a builder with structural experience. He was cool about it. We both thought the rot was limited to just a little area on the lower courses.

Going back tomorrow to see if the rot is above deck... that'll tell us a lot. And going to simply cover the exposed areas with some house wrap. He's got a few other small things for me to do....more typical "Handyman" stuff.
