B8 6112 - 5160 shock combo

Every where i looked these Bilstein shocks were on back order until July 2022. I found Shock Surplus had them in stock for 1268.00 with free shipping. Just got them today. Wow 5 days since I ordered them. They are huge and heavy but well be beautiful on my 2021 TRD OR.they well install them next week. Hopefully i can walk by then. My taco crash really cut my legs up bad. Watch that leg air bag. Well post picture of my truck with them on. Can’t wait.

 

Yes, those shocks s are pretty good.

Totaled my 2019 TRD sport out 3/10/22 and the dash air bag under the steering wheel splits the plastic and that did server damage to both of my shins and nerves. I want my new taco air bag disabled if possiable.

 

I totaled a 3rd gen Tacoma in July of 2019 and what you mentioned Happened to me too. Not as bad as you, but my shins got hammered. I thought it may have been partially due to my height (6’4”). Sorry that it caused bigger issues for you.

 

Thank you, being 77 years old does not help in a crash. I sent pictures and a letter to Toyota. They just wanted to know what i wanted. Nothing just letting you know there is a problem. Never heard back.

 

Sweet! I love how much bigger my 5100s are compared to the OEM O.R. Bilsteins. I can only imagine how much better the 6112s would be. Congrats!

 

Thanks it well be the best shocks i have ever owned. The OR suspension is a softer ride than the 5100 s i had on my 19 sport with a ride like a dump truck. Sure did corner though.

 

Installed 6112’s tonight on my ‘21 TRDOR and thought I’d share. Followed the Shock Surplus tutorial on YouTube. Thank goodness for that. Ordered with Eibach 700# springs on 5/4.

Thanks 6 weeks now and still have 10 nerve pain. Blood clots in my lungs are gone. Clay, your truck is beautiful. I looked for that color but they are very hard to find. Can’t wait to go to the sand dunes and try out these shocks. Less power on this truck , no supercharger like my last taco.

I see you are on the 5th ring on the shocks and wondered how many inches that raised your truck.

 

Got 1” over factory. 23” over center of the cap.

I was expecting the worst after reading so many posts on TW about 5”+ on the top notch. Especially with the 700# Eibach springs. I’m sure the weight of the steel bumper, the rock sliders, and the roof rack keep it down a bit… but hard to say and that’s all speculation.

I ended up with higher lift in the back from the Stage 3 Deaver leafs than I have in the front on the 5/4 circlips.

 

So i thought the 5th ring was 2 1/2 inch lift.

 

Definitely depends on a few variables. Some probably do get that with their builds.

 

6/5 with no weight with 600lb coils will net you like 2” of lift.

 

I have 650 lbs coils 6/5 setting with sliders , full skid package etc. 2” of lift Icon rxt option 2

 

I wish I knew you before I thought I needed UCAs and panic bought.
