Once I was done with all the tracing. I was able to extrude the gasket making it 1 mm thick now the computer knows it has some dimension.

Once I was at that point I was able to save it as a DFX and then I could convert it to a SVG.

Once it was an SVG I was able to bring it into the cricket design space software.

At this point it's really easy for the cricket to just cut out the shape that you want.

Unfortunately, the matt for cutting out my gasket was too small. The gasket is 13" tall by 7" wide.

The standard mat only lets you cut a max size of 11.5" x 11.5". I was okay with this. I have a 12 x 24 mat coming. My gasket material isn't here yet, so not a big deal.

I was still able to see how well it will work and I'm pretty happy. I'll increase the size and cut a few more out of plain paper until I get the correct size. I'm sure you can get the idea from my picture.

If I works as well s it should, I'll cut a few more to have on hand or sell. It's bullshit that the only way to get this gasket is to buy the entire $125 set.

This is bad @$$, I have messed up making lots of gaskets over the years.

Coming due for the first oil change on the CC. I recall a oil/filter discussion recently. I looked back in this thread, but I didn't see a consensus on what oil and filter is preferred.

    It's a 7000 Series "HD", KT740.

    CC's website:

    $15 Kohler Filter KH-12-050-01-S1
    $6.50 Cub Cadet oil 10W-30

If you can get the Cub Cadet branded oil for $6.50/quart that is a fair price for OEM. I have used the Kohler branded oil since day 1 in my CC, I get it at TSC - 15 hard years later she is still going strong.

I use Wix filters on my equipment, your local NAPA store should be able to cross the Kohler number if you don't want to pay the Kohler price.

CC lists 10W-30 for the 2021 model GT54 (mine is '21) and 5W-30 for the 2022 model GT54. As far as I know, same engine...

I need to look at my engine model sticker and verify what model I have. Odd that they changed viscosities but I know that happens from time to time like 2TR-FE tacoma did.

    10W-30 is $6.50
    5W-30 is $8

The filter off my 2TR is the 90915-YZZG2

I just came across this post too. I will definitely check to see if it fits next to the steering linkage. That is easy, the toyota filters can be had for like $4 and it fits my truck too.

After last weekend's super dusty conditions, the foam pre filter was caked. Super caked, I couldn't tell it was blue anymore and there's not even 5 hrs on the engine.

Is there anything I can do different or just keep blowing it out with the air gun?

The good thing was, the primary air filter seemed pretty clean. Blowing it out produced hardly any dust.

I blow my mower off at each mow and do the prefilter at the same time. I bounce it off the end of my leaf blower.

    What is dust?

OH that stuff in September. :D

I am usually cleaning wet green clumps until August. (last year was dry in July though)

I don't know if you have the steering linkage close to your oil filter on yours like mine, but you cannot use a Toyota filter due to clearance. You'll think it'll fit, but it eventually rubs. This is the combo I use on mine:

Plenty of room for the filter...

The VR1 10w30 is pricey, it came out to $8.35 a quart and I bought a case of 6. Filter was like $7.
