It needs a removal top, and then it will be a fun UTE.

Each person has their own perspective. I mean to those that say the Tacoma’s not a truck, I came from paying off a Sentra and was finally able to get my Tacoma. Its definitely funny how all the bigger trucks on the road always try and pull up next to you and flex. It’s a truck to me dammit!

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Raise the roof 5’ or cut the roof off the Maverick. I would like to see one slammed and rolling on 22’s, though

Yet a Peterbilt can tow 70K. Which one is a truck now?

That's a cute lil truck. Definitely not mid-size...more compact.

I see they offer only 4cyl engines in 3 trims: SEL ($27,640), SEL Premium ($36,130), and Limited ($40,170).

My initial thought is, I wouldn't pay more than $30K for this truck if I was in the market.

It's not really at the Tacoma level to do a proper comparison.

I like Hyundais...my wife has a 2017 Elantra that is perfect for her and drives awesome!

We've not had any issues in the 5+ years we've had the Elantra.

But back to the comparison...there really isn't much of a comparison...each vehicle meets different needs.

If it has an open bed, then it’s a truck. Though I like Australian/New Zealand term “Ute” better. Which covers a lot of bases, then after a certain tonnage it is called a truck.

First not sure why you are taking my comments personally. It was meant to challenge what you said. I certainly didn't mean it that way.

But back to towing. Your 4cyl tows 3500 which is the same as the comparable base model SCruz

The top model tows 5000, which is a lot less than the Tacoma V6 models.

I think it looks better than the ugly Ridgeline which is one of it's main competitors probably. But again, smaller bed, which in my opinion is where they screwed up. They should have at least made a long bed version. Maybe they will, but likely, this is based off of one of the crossover bodies and they can't change much.

    I'd like to see test results about this comparison. Unless it's a diesel 4cyl, I don't see a 4-banger beating a V6.

agreed. And it doesn't. The taco pulls 1800lbs more than the Scruz

Members here have complained that the Tacoma struggles to tow 3500+, even though the spec says it tows up to 6800.

And they are right, towing at a vehicles max is unnerving. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. I have done it and it sucks, for safety and your stress.

The Tacoma seems very happy doing 50% of capacity. See an awful lot of overloaded Tacoma’s on here, and then of course read those same people bitch and moan about it being under powered and poor fuel economy. They’ll do a flash, regear, supercharger whatever, when they should go buy a bigger truck.

My 1st Gen has a towing capacity of 5000, anything more than 2500 it suffered.

That's not a Tacoma issue only. It will be the same for all mid size trucks with smaller engines. So that problem is a wash, really.
