There are a couple easy fixes for that.

New wife or new tune. One is wayy less costly than the other.

Good luck with your choice Kemosabe.

Nobody buys tacomas for the get-up-and-go power. (well, maybe morons do?)

There's a jackass around my hood with a voodoo blue TRD Pro and he's always stomping on the gas and the thing goes nowhere.

I’ve never really understood this complaint. It’s not a race car. I can quickly and comfortably reach freeway speeds on the on-ramp. I still had plenty of power at 10,000ft fully weighed down with RTT and gear. I really don’t even mind the slow or delayed shifting now that I’ve had my truck for a while.

I may be completely biased though as my last vehicle was a 2011 Civic 4dr which was notorious for having a terrible transmission and late 70s land yacht type acceleration.

The Taco is a quick truck when compared to other trucks. Everyone thinks they're supposed to have a TRX in Toyota's entry level offering.

@little_joe I'll trade you my 3rd gen 4 banger for a while. Maybe that'll help you feel better about yours. Talk about sluggish....

First in with the MT! Muahaha! The easiest fix is getting the right powertrain in the first place.

Just get her a V8 Hemi Grand Cherokee and be sure she knows to call you (with the Tacoma) before the tow truck.

I agree here with a previous poster: It does sound like she's giving you a green light on an open checkbook. So: Just apologize, and then with a straight face tell her you agree and the only option/cure is to swap the current mill out and stuff the 5.7L I-Force 381hp V8 from the Sequoia under the hood. If it was me, I'd test the waters and hint around that the 6.2L 495hp LT2 from a Corvette would be even better "in case we ever buy a camper" and have to tow it in the mountains. (Dunno tho: That might be flying a little too close to the sun... use caution....)

this is an easy fix now you need to have her pay! for you to get a Tune/pedal commander. is her fault so she should buy it.
