To be fair Toyota is on the 5th generation of the 4Runner and still hasn't figured this out.

3rd gen Tacoma just got lucky somehow.

I find the Tacoma quite impressive as of late. A friend (in a 2018 ram 1500 V8) and I (with current setup and weight) did some runs for fun and we were pretty much dead even.

Not really a useful comparison any sort because not race truck but I think people saying it feels underpowered may find it is still "fast" compared to other trucks.

They may not shift aggressively but I think that contributes to better mileage. There are plenty of aftermarket solutions if you're looking for more oomph

There's always the downside to everything. Ha. I had to buy a new mug for my truck.

True story. Out of college my coworker took his car on a test drive to his house and to work by himself. Never heard of such thing. I can’t even get dealer to let me look at the car by myself.

I've had dealers offer overnight test drives. Not lately though. Admittedly that typically only happens in a buyer's market.

Even in a heavy seller's market, I won't sign unless I put at least 15-20 miles on a drive. But I'm up front about which cars I'm using to compare (5 mile "round-the-block") vs which car I'm ready to sign on (serious tire kicking).

turd gen could of given us that 2 feet space between the front end to the radiator for some extra big cup holders.

toyota made the engine smaller and could of used that extra space for interior cabin refinements.
