Some of my favorites, sad they are getting so difficult to find.

Ahhhhh Weller…. So tbh the secret is being a good loyal customer to one store, that’s where all the allocated bottles go, cold calling 100 stores just makes you the same as everyone else, I wish it was different but loyalty is all I’ve ever seen rewarded, that or get lucky in a lottery. Most places I know never let the bottle see the light of day they all stay locked up. FWIW I bought a few bottles of Weller Special Reserve right at Buffalo Trace for $20/ bottle lol…. It’s not easy, but chasing is half the fun. Good luck!!!

I dig the rider, the guy with his arm up is the ‘S in BLANTON’S.

Also I agree, I had been drinking Eagle Rare as my “house bourbon” for longer than I can remember…. Now I’m THRILLED to see a bottle in stock. Times have really changed in the Bourbon world.

Have never seen this before. They had a 15 year too which was way out of my price range.

Getting Weller or Pappy isn't difficult, getting them for a reasonable price is. I can get a Pappy or Weller 12 today, but the Pappy is around $2000 and the Weller 12 is something like $400. Hope the op didn't pay that, but if he did and he's good with it, no problem!

You can find store picks that are just as good as KC15. Their age statement is a little lower, but just as good for less money.

Secondary on W12 has fallen since they oversaturated their own product line. It’s 225-250 now, which is still sad too much for it imo.

I tend to agree that’s still pricey, however I am fairly certain it’s been proven to be the same juice as Pappy. So if someone wanted to taste or own a 12yr Pappy that would be VERY close. If you think of it as “Pappy” than maybe a couple hundred is worth trying. I haven’t opened my 12yr Pappy but I’ve read a number of reviews that said they are virtually the same.

I have several bottles of the 12 and Weller Antique 107 I collected slowly over the years when I found them for low retail. Eventually I'll try a little of each on it's own, but also want to blend them to try Poor Mans Pappy and Poor Mans EH Taylor 4 Grain (have the Old Granddad 114 for that).

    Heard similar. See above.

We got a bunch of OG114 in a few weeks ago and I passed on it. I have so much stuff. No clue if it’s hard to come by.

Rumor is that they’re basically the same mash but just aged in a different spot.

That’s what I’ve seen too. Same Mash Bill, same juice, same age, different spots in the Rickhouse (can produce wildly different temperature swings) and the Pappy bottles are hand selected barrels.. but really they are very close cousins.

All that said I’ll admit, I just wanted to own a bottle of Van Winkle….

I don't think it's hard to find. It's pretty inexpensive and, from reviews I read, hot and sweet. Burny, as they say! I only picked it up to try the 4 grain blend, as I have a lot of Weller SR I need to do something with. A bit of trivia- the portrait on the bottle is Basil Hayden.
