    ...^^^... Caning Video

This would stop the thieves ... I used to live in Thailand and saw this in Malaysia and Singapore.

Singapore has a VERY HIGH standard of living and VERY LOW crime ... Caning works there.

Most residents and visitors are VERY HAPPY there ... except the criminals.

Nobody gets shot ... this would work for many crimes ... Caning on the Town Square video above.

Unfortunately nothing as of yet, and at this point I'm leaning on the likeliness of it never happening. I'm sure it's gone by now. Dealing with the insurance is a total PITA. I can't order a new truck till they deem it, "gone forever," and my local dealer is saying 6-8 months lead time for a new one. My loaner car term will be finished next week so that leaves me stranded as of then. I legitimately do not know what I am going to do.

For those that said my insurance shouldn't go up, you are very wrong. In Quebec there is no fault insurance which means the policy holders insurance covers the cost of the vehicle whether or not the accident is caused by that person. My contract has not even been renewed yet, and my existing policy has gone up $400 a year as of now. I'm likely looking at around a 1k increase annually once the policy needs to be renewed. Protect your vehicle boys and girls.

How long until they deem it gone forever?

They started to process it this week. They are projecting an offer should come in by the end of the following week.

Why can’t you order a new truck right now? That goes straight through the dealer. Nothing to do with the insurance company.

Dealer should be happy to take your deposit and put you on the list.

Wow it’s been almost 6 months since mine was stolen and I haven’t heard anything from my insurance yet about a raise but I’m hoping it’s not going up that much. My truck was recovered but the replacement wiring harness and computer was around 19k$. We’ll see.

How did your policy increase before renewal? I don't claim to understand Quebec insurance policies but that still doesn't make sense to me.

Regardless.... Shop around at renewal time.

I have replacement insurance which means they will cover the entire cost of the vehicle, (stock) but at the dealer of their choosing, and at the price they negotiate paying. For example; I place an order with deposit at MSRP because you are not getting lower as a walk in, and the insurance gets a reduced price elsewhere. I'll be paying the difference....

I hope for you that it does not increase since the vehicle was recovered. Unfortunately you will only know then.

It's a preliminary quote on a new model. Once I get the new truck the contract will be nullified, and a new one will be implemented. As of now, that's the price difference having had a vehicle stolen. Hopefully it doesn't change in 6 months when I actually submit a VIN for the new truck.

My guess is that he's probably waiting on a check from insurance so he can shop around for a new truck. I have heard that some insurance companies have replacement program, I mean your vehicle gets damaged or stolen, they will be happy to help you get a replacement vehicle.

19K? Yikes. I think it's too much for that stuff... it should be under 2K. Are you talking about BCM? If so, I was told that BCM itself cost under $500. Not sure about the harness... probably labor cost high.

Edit: I just noticed OP just posted.

There was also a repair on the roof where they took a hammer to the antenna. But they told me that the harness (under dash) was 6K alone. Then the computer (don't know specifically which one but it was cut out) and labor.

    Yikes...
You pretty much need to dis-assemble the truck; re-wire the truck; test everything; and put it back together...

As Ripley said, "Take off, and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." Might be easier to part it out just buy a new one...

As soon as insurance is involved the repair costs are automatically inflated by the dealer. Same thing goes for paint. Basically every repair shop has a customer price, and an insurance price. One is about half of the cost of the other.

I had an MRI done on my brain and cardio system ( long story ) about a year ago...
When I called for the appointment the lady asked about insurance, and I have very good health insurance.

She said my out-of-pocket cost WITH insurance would be $125.00...
However, if I wanted to skip the insurance and just pay for the service itself it would be $75.00 ...

    Go figure.

I see. About a year ago, BCM was damaged in my truck due swapped wires. (It wasn't me who swapped the wires) ... I took truck to Toyota and they took 5 hours and find no problems and they wanted more time to look more. I was like WTF? I told the advisor that I want my truck back.

A friend of mine looked around and found the problem in under 30 mins. He said he tested the harness under the dash, all fine. Just BCM. Which no lights settings in head unit where you can adjust the timer all that stuff.

...^^^... Oh, yeah ... bet that guy won't come back for seconds.

They have a very low crime rate in areas where there is butt caning on the public square like in Singapore.
