New Truck deposit Non-Refundable?

Hello Everyone,

I am negotiating a deal on a 2022 TRD and my 2018 as a trade. He has said the truck would take 3-6 months possibly sooner if they can "trade" with another Dealer that has one.
He also stated the $2000.00 Deposit is Not Refundable. What if after 6 months and no truck I assume I would have to wait possibly another 6 months or more to not lose my Deposit.

Strangely this same salesman told me on my initial inquiry and after talking with his supervisor when I was in his office that there were "No Trucks in Canada being made for this coming year or longer". Am I being taken for a ride or should I just pay the $$ and hope I get the truck sooner rather than later?

I was told my deposit was "non-refundable" but when I talked to the sales manager since I wasn't able to get a VIN just yet, that if they didn't delivery by "X" time, I could get a full refund. I would ask for the same in your instance. They will have no issue selling that truck if you back out.

 

Check with your department of consumer affairs for you Provence or state. In California a new or used car dealer can't keep a deposit even after the truck is ordered from the manufacturer or bought from an auction.

Place a refundable deposit yesterday on my next vehicle.

 

I placed a $500 deposit a month ago and it IS refundable.

 

Same when I put a deposit on my 21. They said it was refundable as well.

 

non refundable is dealer game bs..

2k non refundable deposit? Eff off eh!

Tell them you want a written guarantee that your deposit will be refunded upon request.

If they balk walk, take your business elsewhere.

 

Thats a terrible dealer and id find another. They probably do it to stop guys like me that had 3 deposits down at 3 dealers and waited for first to come in. Others were refundable honestly its a shady thing to do as even if truck comes in and you walk they arent getting stuck with a taco. Itll sell in a day. Your best bet is to find a better dealer imo.

I put a refundable $500 deposit down over a month ago. I wouldn't put anything down if it's not refundable. Just my 2 cents!

I bought a pretty expensive unbuilt home with a mere $5k down.

Refundable for any reason.

My wait was 2 years, for construction.

The dealer is playing greedy games.

 

Ill own it. But i got my rig.

Gotta love the friggin irony.

 

When I picked up my truck earlier this month, my dealer said that I got lucky cause Toyota is gonna be slowing down production of Tacomas or something because Russia apparently makes the chips. Though I'm not sure if he is specifically referring to manual transmissions or all Tacos.

 

Check with A1 toyota in Connecticut if your near conn. They had no markups and a refundable deposit of 500 was all that was needed to hold a taco. The guys there were great and very easy to work with.
