Give or take 12 qrts. If your flushing the system. Get 12 till it comes out red. The pan is roughly 4 qrts.

TO "FLUSH" one would have to waste 8 qts. potentially? NO other way to flush?

Remove hose going back to the transmission. I drained 3.5 qrts from the pan, add 4 qrts. Grab a gallon jug and measure 3.5 qrts. Make a line. Use that as your reference. Start the truck up with the return in the container till 3.5 qrts comes out. Turn the truck off. Fill the transmission with 4 qrts and repeat till the fluid comes out bright red. Reconnect the return line. Do the temp check procedure. I used Maxlife and bought three gallons.

It makes it easier to attach a longer return hose because the stock line is too short.
