You have a sick truck. 2nd Gens get a ridiculous tune from the Overland Tailor Team. I’m honored to work with @JustDSM and @Boltripper to get you all tuned up. Enjoy it and reach out if you need any adjustments.

I'm right there with you I'm going elk shed hunting next week and have some hefty passes to go over and I'm sure some snow wheeling to do to get to camp this will be the big test for me . I too am close to 35" tires and stock gears will be monitoring many parameters with obd fusion . Like to treat my truck nice but definitely make Toyota 3.5l do some work.

Look forward to seeing these results! As a side note, OBD Fusion's capture rate for datalogging is actually really slow. If you have access to techstream and want to capture more datapoints for actual datalogging, it's a better tool. However when you're driving and just want to put your phone on the dash, the Fusion is great!

Some of the other tune creators used OBD Fusion to log data to build their tunes, but the Toyota ECU makes micro adjustments at a much faster rate than the Fusion was able to log, thus a lot of important data was missed when the other tunes were built. @JustDSM and @Boltripper did extensive datalogging to build the Overland tunes using Techstream/HPTuners and have really improved their product using the proper tools.

I use my aftermarket hu to connect to my odb port . Yeah I've read many times how obd fusions capture isn't quite accurate. But to monitor tc and transmission temps along with coolant temps and I understand the front diff temps are possibly just calculations it works enough to make sure I'm keeping the truck safe . Especially when I'm pushing it hard .

Exactly… you’re using it to monitor which is perfect. Smart Taco owners like you are using the correct tools. I’ve noticed lower trans temperatures with OTT than the other tunes (names will not be mentioned)… I hope you see the same results! OTT was definitely focused on reliability and longevity as well and their product shows.

I agree! You can tell how much time they’ve put into it! They know exactly what they are doing.

edit: you guys putting 85 in your truck. Stop it! the hp tuner guys are disappointed in you.

Great thread! Justin tuned my 2015 supercharged Pro and it runs amazing. Picking up a 22 today or early next week (whenever it arrives) and I plan on doing this mod first thing.
    Keep up the great work!

vf tuner website is all new this morning ? Wondering if the vf tuner software is getting upgraded soon. The new looking site looks killer.

Just flashed OTT 7.0 I flashed medium throttle and damn a little much for me so I just flashed lite peddle. I will report back after a few miles and the learning process. Very easy to flash myself with the VF tuner.

Oh snap flashed the lite throttle and WOW it’s perfect for me. Then hit ETC button and I get mild throttle. Very cool.

So, if I purchased the VFTuner tuning kit, I could then purchase a vin locked tune and flash myself? How much are the OTT 7.0 tunes? Sounds easier than driving 4 hours “each way” to the closest turner.
Also, if I need something changed, I could do it myself, bigger tires or different gears?

Correct, you (or anyone else) that has VFTuner, we can supply VIN locked tune packs for your setup which include the different throttle offerings we have standard. In the future if you change gears/tires or want something custom to meet your needs, we're more than happy to work with you to get what you're looking for.

VIN Locked Tune Packs are $300 (as of 4/24/22) for new clients. Those already tuned (by another tuner) should contact John at info@overlandtailor.com to discuss our discounted rates.

Glad you found something you liked. We tried hard to nail down settings that fit most folks needs. Some like it hot, some prefer it mild. If something in-between our offerings is desired, be sure to let us know and we can work something up for you needs.

It is looking pretty good! 1.6 should be dropping early next week according to Mat. Will be interesting to see what's new!

Nice! Sounds like the way to go in my situation. I’m always adding modifications, so it would make more sense to do myself.
    Thanks

I think with 4:88 gears this truck would just be about perfect along with the OTT tune.
