Progressive has been super helpful for me, price is decent and they only ask for receipts to prove the value is as stated... Suppose you could have an independent appraisal too.

Geico was the biggest PITA I've ever dealt with as far as insurance. I like Progressive so far (no claims). They were cheaper with lower deductible and higher coverage plus they had the lowest rate for full replacement coverage on my trailer.

The young lady who hit my Honda Pilot in Oct 2018 had "The General". Long story short, the accident was 80/20 her fault.

It was partially my fault because the driver who gave me the right of way to make a left turn into the suicide lane did not have legal authority to do so.

USAA told me when they were investigating the accident that "The General" was not very helpful and at times never answered or assisted.

The lady was going to fight it in court and I was called to be a witness but she never showed.

That just left a bad impression of "The General" and how they handle their business.

I can recommend Erie insurance. I had a claim for a totaled car (my fault) and the process couldn't have been easier and what they paid out was well above what the car was valued at.

I recently talked to my agent because I've added some things to my truck and was thinking about replacement cost if the truck got stolen. He said with the regular policy they would cover aftermarket parts as "used" and only pay a faction of the new cost. He said I could add an "agreed value" to cover the aftermarket parts, at an added expense of course. I haven't decided to do it yet but it seems possible. But the rules change from state to state so your mileage may vary.

Damn that’s ridiculous, sorry to hear, they should be giving you a discount for driving a Toyota. Hope you find a better insurance agency, keep us posted:popcorn:

I switched from Progressive to Geico because they kept raising the cost of my policy. Found the cheapest insurance I have had in a long time. More coverage for less money! See what they can do for you! Based in Chicago. They prefer you have a cell phone to download their app. I do not own one but still buy my insurance from them. Just have to call in if I ever need it.

No one is gonna ask to see a six thousand dollar stereo? Shoot, right after I got my truck in 2015 I self installed a nice (in my opinion) Alpine system. One 12" sub behind passenger seat w/amp under the seat. New component 6x9 speakers front and back. Left the small working door tweeters stock. New head unit . I think it sounds great and it was no where near 6 grand. I'm impressed you can fit that much worth of audio equipment in a small truck.

I got $4500 for my totaled 2003 Pilot. Insurance went slightly up but has since come back down.

I used the $4500 and added $5500 cash to buy my 2010 Mazda CX-9 in Oct 2018.

I traded in the CX-9 to get my TRD Sport in May 2021.

    I'm happy!

Not sure if your situation qualifies but you may want to look into a more specialized insurance through a place like Hagerty or Grundy. They let you choose the value you want to insure for. There may be mileage limits though so depending on your use that may not work.

Don't bother trying to insure the mods, because the insurance co. applies very aggressive depreciation in case of a claim. That $6000 stereo will be worth $0 in insurer's eyes after 3 years.

I pay$500 for both our vehicles, both Toyotas but we just have general liability. I don't want or need full coverage on twenty year old vehicles.

Might want to check around with local private company agents who use other insurance companies than the big dogs. Our insurance goes through Pekin.
