You can just donate your wheels to me.

    Daaamn.

I need a smoker still, but before that I need to get my artificial grass, but before that I need to lay out the mulch, yet before that I need to build some sort of "platform" for the shed we recently got.

They need to come out to finish painting it; installer brought the wrong paint hence the door looking the way it is temporarily :frusty:

I weighed out my pros and cons when I was bender shopping. I was able to use a friend’s model 3 bender (older version) before buying. I bought the JD model 32 and don’t regret the investment. I initially just used it manually for a few years before adding the HF ram with the swag kit. There’s some things to consider if you plan on adding air over hydro afterwards. Money aside- if you’re going to use the bender manually it has to be securely anchored and you can’t have it on wheels. I drove some threaded anchors into my concrete shop floor where I planned on using the bender. That way I could unbolt it when I wasn’t using it and move it to a corner somewhere. This was occasionally and issue if I was bending a super long piece because I couldn’t move the bender so I’d have to move things in my shop to get them out of the way of the arc of the material being bent. So you have to plan accordingly. When you add the hydraulic ram, you have to make sure you have a compressor big enough for the demands of the unit. I have a craftsman professional 27 gal, 150psi compressor and it worked extremely well but I did notice it would slow down towards the end of the ram’s full extension. If you have a larger 2 phase compressor it would make quick work of the bends. A pancake compressor is going to struggle to keep up and will be super slow if it works at all before burning itself out. The electric hydro units are WAAAAY faster but you’re looking at over $2k for a tool that only does one thing. I already had my compressor from when I was painting so it was an easy decision for me.

If space is a concern, there’s companies like tube shark or rogue fab that make specific benders that hold and bend the material on a vertical axis so you don’t have this tube sweeping the garage. Of course you could build your own vertical mount for the JD bender but you’d have to be spot on at 90 degrees when you mount it or have to deal with funky angle measurements if you’re making multiple bends on the same piece at different axes. (*I had to look up the spelling of the plural form of “axis” but it still looks wierd to me.).

JD has my money because they have the aftermarket support from swag and such as well as continuing to support their outdated models long after production. Plus military discount for you!
