Just found this thread, figured I’d contribute. It’s starting to get warm, always makes me miss having a bike.

    Started on a 600

Sold it the following summer and got curious, moved up to a 750

Sold the 750 the following summer, didn’t buy another one for about two years then made the jump to a 1000 and absolutely loved it.
The day it went to a new home.

I regret selling the R1 at times but I needed a bigger down payment for a house. Maybe in the future I can pick up another!

Once I get home and have my laptop I'll explain my tracking stuff for anyone interested. My set up is quite inexpensive and works well

Home safe and sound. Put a few miles on the bike.

Add about 900 miles for the train ride.

Awesome, FJRs are a fantastic bike. My brother has mine now and I've moved over to a Triumph Trophy. A question - what saddle do you have on yours and how does it work after 300 miles? I had a Sargent on my FJR and it was better than the factory saddle, but was not great after 300 miles.

Stock FJR seat does leave a bit to be desired for real long distance work. I've had a Laam custom seat since around 2013 and it now has likely 150k or more miles on it. I considered a Russel Day Long seat but just couldn't get past the appearance of it. Sargent is a decent seat but it's still an off the shelf seat. You want a true custom seat for long distance riding.

Im not going to ride with those GS/KTM guys tomorrow. They're trying to do 800+ miles in a day, and im not about that. Especially when i work overnight. Ill just stick to my day rides that are under 250 miles, and exploring by myself.

No balls. Best I've done is 1100 in a day. Did a few 500 mile day trips up to the Arctic Circle and back also. Lots of fun.

Im working 8pm-630am, then try to get some sleep for a few hours. Not about to go on a ride that is actually pretty far in the truck. Plus gravel which I barely have experience with.

Even when I have normal amount of sleep, thats a long day. I can ride for a few hours, but like to get home before dark too.

    Oh, man - https://ridethefarm.com/motorcycles/

Heading into RNR Cycles in couple hours to see if they can hook me up with a nice suspension for a manageable price.

Smelled some frying electrical smell on my commute yesterday. Apparently the rectifier is garbage on the Triumphs up until '14 or so...

Riding that long Isn’t fun. It hurts and is more like a chore than enjoyable

On the right bike, properly set up it's not a problem. I've done several, some with a passenger.
