Nice. Just doing my part I've gotten plenty of help and ideas from here so if I can make it easy for someone else why not. :)

Has anyone had this happen? The adjustment ring is caught on the spring and is making it extremely hard to turn (I stripped one hole with a 5/16 punch cranking so hard). The catch is causing the spring to completely spin with every turn.

Yes, I have. I think what I ended up doing was turning the collar away while trying to hold the spring in place so it wouldn't rotate, that way I could build separation, if that makes sense. The safest way is to compress the spring and rotate the collar.

Kind of makes sense. How were you holding it in place?

My hand. I had to loosen the collar a bit to back that lip off enough. I think I gave the collar some firm tugs (so to speak) to help build distance.

I'm kind of freaked out on how much I can loosen that collar before the spring shoots through the roof

Sorry, I used the wrong term. I meant rotate the collar itself in the opposite direction. The collar just needs to be loose enough to spin, which it sounds like you've already done.

Decided to just risk it for the biscuit and gave it a few more full turns to compensate for the lean. I should be happy with 2.5 inches of lift. Will have to compress them to go any further as you suggested (and Fox) to be on the safe side. Thanks, Gonzo.

When I do install my new front Fox coilovers, I'm planning to go the spring compressor route to adjust the preload collars.
    - Once compressed, will I be able to turn the collar by hand, or will I need a tool's help still (e.g. spanner wrench, 5/16" punch or rod, etc)?
    - I understand that when I receive the coilovers, factory front ride lift will be set roughly 2" from stock (which I'm not). My preference is to set the Shock Length at 21" (giving me about 2.5" of lift). Is the process: Install the coilovers as-is, take Shock Length measurement and determine additional length needed to reach 21", then adjust preload collar by that amount? Or, is there a way to set the preload beforehand to avoid installing twice for this preload adjustment?
    - My guess is the Fox coilovers will keep me at my current ride height, or give me 1/4" to 1/2" more. I'll need to see. Is a wheel alignment still recommended if the lift is expected to be small (less than or equal to 1/2")? I'm thinking so, but thought I'd ask. FWIW I'll be reusing my TC UCA's.

@AccuTune Offroad or anyone else that can advise. Thanks!

This should be a complete answer to your question:

    Thanks AccuTune!
Just wanted to confirm that any changes in ride height will require alignment.
Also, is it also Fox's recommendation to use a spring compressor to adjust preload? If so, why is it that Fox offers a spanner wrench for this? This is more of a curiosity for me and not trying to advocate for it.

Spanner wrench is more ideal for a universal fit coilover with much lighter rates. Still can be used to rotate the collar with spring compressor. Recommendations on whether or not to use a spring compressor seems to be all over the place. We tend to do things "the right way" vs taking short cuts and risks. All of which is discussed in that article

Thanks for the explanation on the spanner wrench.

    Another question for @AccuTune Offroad
I just saw your advertisement for your new U-bolt flip with bump stop and its recommended bump stop spacer chart. When I had placed my order for the Fox PES FOX-883-26-113, the recommended bump stop at that time for this shock setup was the Archive Garage U-Bolt flip kit (ARG-UB-001-4). This is something I've already purchased and installed.

I currently have the ICON RXT leaf pack at Option 2 (which equates to 2.75" spacer required for the AccuTune kit). Will I need to now add spacing or change out my bump stops? If so, where is the 2.75" measurement being taken from?
